Anyone planning to see it? Do we know yet if it's good or not?

Jus228Hell yeah! Giant gorilla fighting dinosaurs and monsters? That's all I need to know. Should be a fun movie to watch in theater.

grumpy1Yeah, I am going to go see it. I am a sucker for this kind of entertainment. King Kong must be 150 feet tall in this one. He smashes helicopters like toys with his fists.

OrgussBy the time Kong and Godzilla have their rematch, they'll tower into the stratosphere and their blows will scatter clouds like hydrogen bombs. It's getting ridiculous how tall they're getting.
Oh, and I won't be seeing this one.

VgexSaw it. Pretty good. Standard complaints regarding plot. Many characters were replaceable or superfluous. Thought they did a good job giving potential tie ins to future Kong/Godzilla movies and enemies. I thought Kong was a bit too human, as opposed to more animalistic.
Edited to add: Way better than Bryan Cranston's Godzilla (2014). But that is a pretty low bar.

OrgussThe 2014
Godzilla was head and shoulders above (literally and figuratively) the 1998 version, though!

As a Godzilla movie, yes. But I found 2014 Godzilla to be less
Professional .

AllenInARHah. I see what you did there.
Oh, and despite not liking the Broderick/Reno Godzilla, both it and the 2014 Godzilla were far better than the latest offering from Japan, Shin Godzilla. So bad it was good, and yet STILL bad!!!

Hound DogThere was no 1998 'Godzilla' movie. There was the 1998 Matthew Broderick "Giant Iguana Movie." "Giant Iguana Movie" was a pretty fun movie, as mindless blockbusters go, but it was NOT "Godzilla." I think the Japanese refer to this monster as 'Zilla,' as they took the 'god' out of him. The 1998 lizard even appears (VERY briefly) in Toho's 2004 "Godzilla Final Wars" movie, where the brought back most of the Godzilla monsters for their 'finale' Godzilla movie. "Zilla" was the ONLY CGI monster in it, and the real Godzilla (all the other monsters were all controlled by aliens) kicked his butt in about 3 seconds, to which the main bad alien reacted "I always knew that tuna-eating thing was useless"

.
I liked the 2014 movie, but think (as others here have stated over the years) that Brian Cranston should have been the one to carry the entire movie, not the young EOD guy.
I don't like how big the monsters have gotten, either. I think the Jack Black King Kong got his size right; even the 1978 movie made him too big, IMO. This new one just looks ridiculous. Instead of making Kong that big in order to have a Kong vs Godzilla movie, they should instead focus on a "Godzilla vs Pacific Rim" movie. I mean, WHY hasn't THAT movie been made yet? From what I understand, both franchises are owned by the same people.
I'll be interested in reading what you all have to say about this Kong movie. I plan to skip this one (it doesn't appeal to me in the least bit).

His,(Kong's) poo must be enormous.

andronicusYes, a Kong dump would be massive.
I've never gotten the Kong vs. Godzilla nonsense. Godzilla could just set Kong on fire from a distance. Game over.

mbinkyI'll see it. Hell in 50 years it will be real....

Giant Iguana Movie

I do like the pier scene, though.

BigboreshooterThe wife and I saw it this afternoon. It was good, but not really great. CGI and special effects were very good. Bit of a different twist on the King Kong story.

bald1As soon as I saw S. L. Jackson was in it I said "pass." He's been a one trick pony for years playing the same tired old characters. Well that's in the movies. His lame liberal pontifications also annoy the hell out of me. Something I can't get out of my head whenever I see him. What's in my wallet? Not a ticket to this shit! Again PASS!
