Down By Law: Jim Jarmusch - All journey, no destination
If you have to have action in a film, this is not for you. That is not to say that nothing happens, because the film is quite entertaining. I'm referring to 'action' in the sense of typical Hollywood films, geared for the not-so-imaginative ADHD crowd.
Like most of Jarmusch's work, the journey is everything; Dead Man and Broken Flowers come immediately to mind.
A great performance by Roberto Benigni, with his improvised "The Rabbit" story, almost as entertaining as his confession to a priest in Jarmusch's Night on Earth, also improvised. (" I don't know if you ever made love with your sister-in-law, Father, but you should try it, because it's absolute heaven.")
Pre-Katrina New Orleans, and Tom Waits.
Watch it with friends and a couple of beers, and just enjoy the ride. Highly recommended.

Thanks! We thoroughly enjoyed this. The wife was giving me the stink eye as the characters developed but it came together. And to be contrary, not so much no destination.
