Fed161Alone - Season 9 has started on the History Channel
It's on Thursdays at 9:00 pm on the History Channel. So far one episode has played. If you missed it I'm sure you can watch it On Demand. It looks like it should be a good season. I'm sure most people know the premise, but in case anyone doesn't, a person usually with outdoor survival skills is placed in a remote location (northern Canada this season). They are allowed 10 survival items (no guns). They need to forage, trap, and fish for all of their food. Whoever lasts the longest wins a prize (this year $500,0000.) It's a fun and interesting show to watch.

RuckerLove this show. And this looks to be an interesting season. Surprising to me how many people state their full time job is "outdoor survival skills" or "primitive living". I have to think they are barely scraping by, hoping for the golden ticket of an Alone win.

archermanI will say I have seen every season and every episode of this show, and I really like it.
I also know that when I am sitting on my couch watching and saying why are you not doing this, then I realize uhhhhhm that's why you are on the couch!

old rugged crossI have watched occasionally. The first few years seemed pretty good. I did not watch all the episodes by any stretch.
The recent couple of years it has gotten worse. This year the contestants seem worse. So lost any interest I had.
Seems more phony now.

mdblantonI enjoy the series with Season 1 being my favorite. Alan Kay (S1 winner) is featured in many YouTube videos - some excerpts from the show and others with Survival Dispatch.
As the series has progressed I've become less than thrilled with the constant 'cliff hanger' edits. It also seems like a starvation contest - which I suppose as survival goes, is the name of the game.

Ronin1069Excellent!
Last season turned me off a bit; the local regulations made hunting/fishing much more difficult and it pretty much morphed into a starvation contest.
Nothing will ever beat Rock House and killing the Muskox.

I've only watched the couple of seasons on Netflix but this was one of them. That dude is legit. Very entertaining and it's fun to watch someone thrive (relatively) instead of just survive.
