Woke up abut 0430 and couldn't get back to sleep s thought I would make myself smooth and pretty for my wife since it is Valentines Day.


I used my new FatBoy and one of the "Shaving Revolution" blades. Initial review is I shouldn't try two new things at once. Did not start great, some small nicks and the blade seems pretty aggressive. Definitely sharp and I reminded me of the on time I used a feather blade.

What I don't know though is if it was the blade or the razor. Probably would be better using a known blade with the new razor or a known razor with the new blade.

My Slim Adjustable lives at "3" and that is where I set the FatBoy. After two strokes I backed it off to "2" and ended up with a total of 4-5 very small nicks doing my usual three-pass shave. None required styptic and they can't even be seen now.

Nicks aside, the combo gave me an extremely close shave. I 'll put the blade in my Slim Adjustable for my next shave so I have a sense of the difference between it and my usual Personna or PolSilver. Then I will put a Personna in the FatBoy for the shave after that. That will give me more of an "Apples to apples" comparison of the new blades and razor.

Had a chance to try the “Shaving Revolution” blade in my Slim Adjustable. Shave seemed noticeably milder than it was in the FatBoy.

Definitely a sharper/harsher blade than the Personna, but gives a good smooth shave. Next test will be a Personna and a PolSilver in the FatBoy for comparison to the Slim.

My guess is a setting of “2” on the FatBoy should be close to the setting of “3” I use on the Slim.

Tried to start a little sumthin-sumthin with my wife this morning and was immediately shut down cause she was, and I quote, “Tired of you always being so damn prickly”


Can’t think of a better reason to get shaving more often than that!


So after a 15 mile bicycle ride this afternoon, I decided to have me a little “spa-day/self-care” session with a nice hot shower, cheese grating of my calloused heels, unruly nose-hair plucking, and wild eyebrow tweezing before a nice 4-pass (down/up/front to back/back to front) shave.


It’s Friday night and I am ready to cue up my Barry White playlist. Bow chica bow-wow! Wish me luck


I soaked my Semogue 620 Boar Bristle Brush in my Skull of Your Enemy chalice before using it to whip up some Maggard Limes and Bergamot soap in my Georgetown Pottery G-20 Scuttle.

Then had a great shave using my refinished Gillette 1959 Fatboy razor with a Personna Red Platinum Chrome blade.
