AnubismpMickey 17 non-spoiler
I saw it. Unfortunately, I feel there was an interesting story here that got missed for a political message, that is, Orange Man bad, basically. Mind you; I expect there will be some court jester smack-talking the king sometimes, but this was way on the nose, unintelligent, and to use one of my favorite Churchillisms, it couldn't change its mind and would not change the subject.
Its a shame as cloning and morality could have taken it to some interesting places. After doing some searching apparently the source material is very different but this diverged and changed alot of charectors. Its also a shame coming from the guy who did Parasite which got me interested but in the end it left me checking my watch. I guess watch it if you are on a plane with no options and arent sleepy.

IntrepidTravelerAh, that's a shame. I read the books and they were quite enjoyable, so I had high hopes for the movie. Wife wants to see it so we probably will next weekend.

AnubismpI hope I just read something into it that isnt there for your sake. I am curious as to your thoughts when you return as I have not read the source material but I'm not sure if that is good or bad going into it.
I am curious enough to be in queue at my library for the audiobook so that is atleast a win.

Dwill104Is it orange man specifically, or just the typical messed up authority figure that’s pretty common in dystopian science fiction?

AnubismpNo I took it to be Trump, but I certainly could be reading into it as it's played by Mark Ruffalo who has apparently protested Trump in the past and certainly seemed to be doing his best SNL style impression.
My understanding of the source material is that the villan is a villan but not a kooky one.
