Apple TV+ will have a new series on motorcycling and feature Ewan McGregor and Charley Boorman. They set off from the tip of Argentina and made a 13,000 mile trip to California. This was done on Harley-Davidson LiveWire electric bikes.

mutedbladeThey did Long Way Round back in the early 00's on BMW's. 10 Episodes and every single one of them was awesome. Can't wait to watch this when I get the chance.

Valpo FzThey did “Long Way Around” about their around the world trip. Then they did “Long Way Down” going from the UK to the Southern tip of Africa. The new one is about traversing South America from or to Ushia/ Tierra Del Fuego. I have enjoyed the series.

mkuefferThe first 3 episodes were released yesterday. Spent the morning watching and seems this is going to be a great series. Interesting to see the early planning and investigation into what that will use for the trip.
Proud to see that the Harley-Davidson team put the bikes together in a short timeline and on their own time.
Living in Wisconsin and having cold weather for limited bike riding presents its challenges. Great to see Ewan and Charley deal with it.

PatriotI’m not impressed...
The whole failure using the electrics is the whole show.
They drive measly miles a day...
Episode three they were driving on gravel in the cold...oh my! They made it seem like it was adventure riding ominous music and all. They had to drive 117 miles! Good god how did they manage!
Then they took the day off!
I like them but this is not like the previous two shows.
Two old guys taking day rides...is what it should be called.
Their longest day is 170 miles!

I agree that this ride isn't nearly as physically challenging as the other two. But in all fairness, Charlie's physical limitations after his wreck may be a bigger deal than they are letting on. Throw in the bike limits, and the miles just aren't there.
The scenery has been spectacular, though. And it's nice to see Charlie and Ewan back together.

Very true...and I will keep watching...

fwbulldogJust finished episode 4. When the truck mounted diesel generators starting showing up I’m thinking “reduced carbon footprint?”
Fun to see the kid in the middle of nowhere tell Ewan “may the force be with you”. There is literally nowhere that isn’t touched by Star Wars.
Ewan says “I’m not trying to put people off using electric bikes....” and then just trails off. Huge “but” hanging there.
Physics is physics. Batteries don’t function well outside of a narrow temperature range. Too hot, too cold, you’re done. Push them up on the flatbed truck with the generator and let’s go get some hot chocolate.
I’m cold just watching them ride in that weather. They make a big deal about “the bikes are on their own”. Um, yea. Them, the camera guy on the petrol bike, the support crew nobody sees just out of range with the vans and generators and hot coffee.
It’s still interesting to watch them struggle to make 40 miles. They aren’t beating the dead eco-horse. Not one mention of global warming at the glacier.
I kind of expected a non-stop tirade of planet saving, but have been pleasantly surprised. They seem a bit humbled, and not having very much fun yet. But I think it’ll pick up when it warms up.
