Heh. This thread didn't age well.... Since the thread was posted back in 2018, Game of Thrones crashed and burned in Season 8, and Westworld jumped the shark in Season 3.

GoT was a phenomenon unlike any other TV show and then went out like a wet fart. I didn't even bother watching S3 of Westworld. I like S1 but S2 was so disjointed that it was basically impossible to follow.

Succession, however, is really great and I don't really think I've seen better acting in any show, ever.

I am late to the party. But, The Wire is one of two shows that really appealed to me for character development, writing, and plot. The other was Justified (on FX). I found myself rooting for Omar Little at times.

I just started season 4 of GOT. I've been watching one episode a week with my daughter. It's her favorite show and she admits the last two seasons are dumpster fires. Apparently, season 4 is the best of the series.

The Pacific was excellent, as was BOB. I'll have to check out some of the others. I got HBO Max after ditching Netfux.

I think Generation Kill is one of HBO’s better series.

The Deadwood movie was incoherent and rushed or just poorly edited.

We watched the Deadwood movie last night.

I thought the movie did a good job of wrapping up the series. Everyone got a little bit of screen time and the character arcs were nicely finished.

HBO has a bunch of very good series, BOB, The Pacific, GOT, Sopranos, Gomorrah, 6 feet Under.

Gomorrah was a BBC Sky series that HBO picked but wow did we really enjoy it.

GoT is my favorite.

Wife and I just finished the first season of "Industry" on HBO max. Was damn good.

GoT was excellent, it did have an odd ending...

We're on Year 2 of Sopranos, good to watch again, some I'd missed.

Justifed was a good as ever....

Deadwood is something every cocksucker should watch..

HBO mini series are as good as it gets... Consider:
The Pacific
The Night of
Band of Brothers
John Adams
Chernobyl
True Detective (some seasons better than others but I did enjoy them all)

My absolute favorites from HBO are:

* Deadwood
* True Detective season 1
* Band of Brothers

Then things like:

* The Wire
* GoT
* Sopranos

Then things like:

* Rome
* Carnival
* The Pacific

But I've enjoyed most of their originals.

I forgot about "Chernobyl"!!! Certainly one of the best series HBO offered, but they never gave it the publicity it deserved. Maybe because it enlightened the audience about the cold truth of how socialism treats those dependent upon it and encourages government apparatchiks to conceal problems rather than recognize, address, and "own" them to meet their obligation of service?

It's a depressing movie, but if any series of it's kind needs to be shown to today's students, this is IT!!!

I liked and watched most of the recommendations here, I did like Entourage as one other person mentioned. It is mindless easy watching TV and it's only 30 minute episodes, if you like Curb your Enthusiasm, you might like this.

I kinda liked Entourage. It has some interesting characters. But if you're not into the "Hollywood Life Style" it might not be your bag. If you haven't seen it, it's worth a look and you can always bail if it doesn't suit your taste.
