tk13Help with movie title
So I have fleeting memories of an old movie I saw when I was but a wee lad. I only remember one scene from near the end. It has stuck with me over the years, and I think about it occasionally. I recently tried to find it on Google or IMDB with no luck, so I decided to try here for some help.
The plot has the hero (maybe Tarzan or Samson?) trying to rescue a woman. Toward the end there is a bad guy picking up women and throwing them into a pit (maybe with lions below). The bad guy picks up the woman, the hero throws a spear at him, and he drops the woman into the pit.
I know that's not much to go on, but that's about all I remember. What says the group?

Modern Day SavageAny idea what year or timeframe you saw the movie, to help narrow the choices down? Actors? Action/ drama? Monster flick? Appearance of the actual film, stop motion?
The scene you described doesn't ring any bells for me but I'm going to toss a couple ideas out that have plenty of spear chucking, sword play, and longbow archery... along with beautiful women in distress, lots of ships sailing on seas, and plenty of monsters, including Hydras, Minotaurs, Centaurs, armies of skeletons, invisible wizards, etc..
- Jason and the Argonauts
- any of the several Sinbad movies/ TV series over 40-50 years, including both live action and animated productions.

tk13I was maybe 5 or 6, so tha would put it around d 1969 or 70, but it was older even then. You know the type shown on Saturday afternoon cinema. All I remember is the scene described.
I was thinking maybe Tarzan and the slave girl but the ending of that is slightly different. Of course my memory of it could be very suspect.

Ok, so that helps a little... we're talking about a movie made some time before 1970.
I'm still stuck on my prior suggestions.
I haven't had any luck with this site, but maybe you can come up with better keywords or descriptions.

rat2306Serious question; was Doug McClure in it? I was thinking "The Land That Time Forgot", or something in that vein like "Land of the Lost", the Saturday morning TV series.
ETA: another one from that timeframe, "When Dinosaurs Ruled the Earth".

She lives. Saturday afternoon movies did not want to expose kids to death. Hero rescues her.

Means either the movie was made for TV or a couple 2 or 3 years older than when you saw it on TV.

rat2306Thanks to Modern Day Savage's post with the "What is my movie.com" link, I have a contender: "Tarzan and the Lost Safari". Tarzan saves woman from being sacrificed to a Lion god.

Not sure I'd depend on a memory there. There are other examples too, but I distinctly remember seeing the movie 'In Harms Way' in color. It was shown on TV, possibly for the first time around 1971 is my memory. But I remember it being in color (like technicolor style) even though it most assuredly was not.
