The Outfit on Amazon Prime
I watched this for the first time last night. It started out slow but I stayed with it and it turned out pretty good. Lots of twists and turns, it was worth the time.

"If there's one thing this last week has taught me, it's better to have a gun and not need it than to need a gun and not have it." Clarence Worley

Good movie. Shades of Kaiser Sose makes it great. Worth the watch

Definitely one of the best films I've seen lately. It does a fantastic job of ratcheting up the tension purely through the acting. This is basically a one-act stage play put on film.

Mark Rylance is masterful, and his acting makes the movie. The others do a respectable job too, but clearly aren't in the same league.

The movie looks amazing on an OLED with its deep, dark blacks, since the entirety of the film takes place inside a dimly-lit shop and the color palette consists of almost exclusively blacks and browns lit by dull yellow incandescent bulbs. It was clearly intended for cinema viewing, though it didn't seem to get much marketing during its theatrical release. (Don't try watching this in your brightly-lit living room on a cheap LED/LCD TV... You'll miss out on much of the detail and nuance.)

As stated, lots of twists and turns, though none feel contrived or forced. As many filmmakers have discovered, it's tough to pull off twists the right way, but this one nailed it.

From the title, I though it might be a remake of this, but it's not: The Outfit (1973)

But, check it out anyway- Robert Duvall, Robert Ryan, Joe Don Baker- too many to name. Good seventies crime film from a novel by Donald Westlake, who also wrote "The Hunter" which is the book the film Payback is based upon.
