Get Back - Beatles Documentary
Anyone else check out the 8 hour series? Was great to see their collaboration in song development. The tension between members and a peek into their lives.

I surprised at the opening warning “contains language and scenes of smoking”. Taking place in 1969 was the peak go social smoking?

The rooftop concert was interesting that they documented both the street reactions and inside the Apple Corp lobby.

I watched the first three hour segment and I though it was like watching paint dry. I never realized how dysfunctional they were as a group. I always thought George was the smartest in the group and he proved it when he got up and said AMF!

We watched part 1 last night. I am a hardcore Beatles fan so I greatly enjoyed it. My wife, who likes the Beatles but is not nearly as hardcore as I enjoyed it.

I have always been a sucker for behind the scenes footage and watching the creative process.

The best part of part 1 for me was watching Paul spontaneously pull the seed of Get Back out of his brain and start to refine it in front of our eyes. It was Magical.

We don’t have Disney+ and therefore, haven’t seen of 3-part documentary. What I did see though was Peter Jackson on 60 Minutes. I saw a promo about his appearance and the “Get Back” documentary, so I recorded the show.

That said, Peter Jackson told us that what he learned from the many hours reviewing footage and putting the 6 hours together into the final product was that he was surprised to find out that the Beatles were NOT the dysfunctional group of individuals that we all heard about since the breakup. That Yoko Ono was not the person who drove the group apart. That they seemed to him like four friends who just decided to move on.

He went on to say that even McCartney and Ringo Starr bought into the “dysfunctional group” description of their last days together and THEY were surprised in reviewing footage at how well they worked together.

I’m about 1/2 way through the series. Yes, some of it is slow…but we are watching literal history happening in front of us. I wish it was longer.

The Beatles did “Some Kind of Monster” (Metallica) before Metallica did.

Disney wanted to cut all scenes with language and smoking. Paul and Ringo said FU. So you get the warnings instead.

LOL. If they pulled all the scenes with smoking they’d have like 10 minutes to work woth.

Wached the first episode tonight with a friend of mine who is a huge Beatles fan.

I agree, the parts where Paul and John are working out melodies and riffs to some of the most iconic songs ever sre magic. So cool to see all the behind the scenes stuff.

Great doc. It’s clear they still liked each other but wanted different things. Four forces pushing apart instead of coming together for a common goal. A little bit of weariness too. The final half was stellar.

Disney decision makers have proved over and over again in recent years that they are absolute clueless morons.

We finished it last night. Well worth the watch if you are a Beatles fan.

A little long in places, you could have cut some fat to make it a more compelling.

However, we are never getting any more of this. Just watching those 4 creating together, at the height of their powers, was awesome. Make you wonder what they could have done if they stayed together for a few more years?

I’d like to see it, but I can’t give Disney any money and keep a clean conscience.

Just want to say it's one of the coolest things I've ever seen. yeah, it's long and some could've been cut out, but then again, this is all we're ever gonna get, like someone said above. I'll take it.

Watching the birth of these iconic songs, as they were flowing out of their minds, is just incredible. I'm a huge Beatles fan and my Dad was a huge Beatles fan. I wish he were around to watch this.

I'm so glad to see how happy they actually were working together.

I'm sure yoko made sure she wasn't shown in a light as bad as reality was. Greatest con artist in music history.

The rooftop concert was awesome. Love how the staff downstairs kept delaying the cops. If I were those cops, I would've taken my sweet time and gotten a free concert in. I mean, it's the Beatles playing live for the first time in years, how could you stop them?

I’m impressed with Paul’s natural leadership.

This was mentioned earlier, but I found the video. In this scene, you literally witness Paul creating Get Back.

Watching John and Paul work out and create “Let it Be” caused me to whisper a nearly inaudible, Wow”.
——————————
Scene that blew my mind:
After George tries to quit the band, you see:

If he doesn’t come back by Tuesday, we get [Eric] Clapton,” Lennon replies.

——————————-

Everyone is so formal in how they speak with each other. I miss that.

———————————

We see the beginning of Yoko’s influence as Episode opens.

I found it kind of disturbing how they'd just lean guitars up against chairs or lay them on the ground. One scene, George's Les Paul that Eric Clapton gave him slid off the drum platform.

After the rooftop concert was through, John just rested his Casino up against the amp.

…and Billy Preston walks in the door and ends up on the Album! (The only non-Beatle to ever get an album credit)
