Looks like another great film by Mr. Eastwood. I'm looking forward to seeing it.

Saw the trailer when we went to TLJ a couple weeks ago. Looks intense, but with a lot of backstory on the guys.

Besides Audie Murphy, I can't think of any other main characters in biographical movies like this, at least off the top of my head.
Act of Valor would be close, with real Navy Seals playing themselves in fictional scenes somewhat based on real events.
There were a few films with folks in supporting or background roles who had really been there, like The Longest Day. And HBO's miniseries Generation Kill had some of the smaller roles played by the actual Marines involved.
I guess Howard Stern in Private Parts might count, since it's biographical. Although he was already an established entertainer. These three guys are unknowns, outside of their actions on that day.
(I'm not counting famous actors who play themselves in various fictional films, like John Malkovich in Being John Malcovich or Bill Murray in Zombieland.)

That's a great decision. Maybe Clint knows he can get what he needs from the guys with his directing.

Clint Eastwood makes film after film after film. Got to be the hardest working guy in Hollywood, AND he is 90 plus years old.
Old Clint doesn't have much time left on this earth, and he seems to want to leave his mark on cinema. Hats off to him.

i went and watched some of the nightly-talk-show interviews with these guys after watching the trailer and it looks crazy good.

The issue was the script. Took a 30 min movie and stretched it out to 90 min. I will see for myself tomorrow. But from the trailer a few parts do seem a little cheese-dick.
