The episodes with Liam Neeson and Tyne Daly were boring. The others were entertaining and kept my interest. Beautiful scenery in the epsisode about the prospector.

I really enjoyed most of them. Very much the brothers grimm, aseops fables of the old west. Nicely done, cold, harsh, and sureal.

I'll give anything by the Cohens a try. They don't always make good movies, but very often they do.

I’m halfway through it right now. It’s a Coen brothers movie, no mistaking it. I’m quite liking it so far, but good grief it feels jaunty. The opening scene is very different from the others so far, and the episode with Neeson was boring and unpleasant, to say the least. It definitely didn’t “tie the room together.”

It quickly went from “what the fuck am I watching?” to “Holy shit!” and then just as quickly back to “what the fuck am I watching?” before it starts to settle into some sort of groove. Likely, this one, like many of their other offerings, will need multiple viewings to fully make sense.

*Edit- Just finished it. Man, it's got a bit of everything. I enjoyed it and will watch it again to dig in a bit more. Thanks for the recommendation. Smile

I enjoyed The Ballad of Buster Scruggs and All Gold Canyon episodes the most.

Watched it yesterday and thought it was great. The first story, wagon train and prospector stories were really good. The others weren't to my liking.

Agreed, but I also liked the second one with James Franco's character and the bank. I think the wagon train story was possibly the best of the bunch. As fun and attention-getting as the first vignette is, it really doesn't jibe with the rest of the film. Sooooo different.

I enjoyed it, some vignettes better than others.

But I haven't met a Coen brothers production that I don't like.

I'm really enjoy their fresh perspective but Intolerable Cruelty, a Serious Man, and Burn After Reading? Just Painful.

Keep going. It's not all like the first "chapter".

Agreed. The first one is a little wacky, but still good. And they get better.
