Never even watched a moment of this, and don't feel like I missed anything.
A sad state of affairs.

Star Trek movies needs to go full on war against Klingons and/or the Romulans without any woke crap. Its the only way to salvage Star Trek.

That would make for an exciting show, but Gene Roddenberry would probably approve more of the series today than a one about violence.

Roddenberry was a whore for the money. As long as he got a chunk of money he was fine with whatever happened.

I mean, we kinda had that with DS9 and the whole Dominion War.

The thing is, Star Trek has always been "woke", they just didn't constantly beat you in the face with it. It was packaged in such a way that just about anybody could watch it, and they weren't just checking boxes. The newer stuff feels more like here's our gay character, here's our trans character, do you love us now!?

Good scifi is supposed to encourage you to rethink your positions and beliefs, it's not supposed force you into thinking a certain way.

I don't include Lower Decks in any of this, because that one is awesome. It's clearly written by people who love Star Trek enough to poke fun at it.

^^^ Lower Decks is the best Trek out there.

Mistake not my current state of joshing gentle peevishness for the awesome and terrible majesty of the towering seas of ire that are themselves the milquetoast shallows fringing my vast oceans of wrath.

The good thing is that if Plan A fails, there are 25 other letters in the alphabet.

Followed closely by The Orville, which despite being (at least partly) a parody and not even actual Trek is better Trek than any of the Trek of the past two decades plus.

(Both shows prove that parody, written by those who love and understand the source, is better than trying to play it straight while deviating heavily from its roots.)

Word.

Which is why GalaxyQuest is also excellent Trek.
