Has there ever been one "enhanced" that made the movie better?

I'd like to see one where it made any difference at all.

I've seen three old John Wayne westerns in three weeks,
That were colorized and if anything, it was a silly distraction.

I remember as a wee lad thinking that the Wizard of Oz looked terrible in color.

I’ve not been a fan of colorized movies. To me it’s adulterating the original work in most cases without consent.

If I stumble across one I change the channel. If I recall TCM was on a colorization kick and there when I quit watching it.

I like them. Even then, they had specifically designed costumes, sets, and locations for a reason. Colorized movies allow you to see the movie as the director saw it.

I didn't care for the "Babes in Toyland" colorizing, the original I mean. The b&w versions are just a classic look.

I'm not against it.

Seems they were working with technology that didn't work well at the time. Shadows didn't play nice with the process.

If they tried it now, could you imagine trying to sort out the colors for The Count of Monte Cristo or The Man in the Iron Mask?

I despise the colorization of past B&W films. Not only does it ruin the aesthetic of the cinematography, but many directors and actors opposed altering their films, including Orson Welles, Kubrick, Jimmy Stewart, David Lean, John Huston, Elia Kazan, Billy Wilder, Frank Capra, etc.

I can understand a director going back and altering their past films, but for an outside entity to arbitrarily decide on changing the film is wrong.

I totally agree. The one exception is film from World War Two and documentaries from that era.
