Three episodes in and this one is starting to get interesting.
Harrison Ford is the uncle that stepped in to raise the boy from 1883 and his brother. Both are grown. One is ranching and the other is drifting in Africa after WWI.
They’re in a drought and starting to fight with immigrant sheep herders.

I saw the first episode and enjoyed it. Hoping I can buy individual episodes via Prime from here out.
It takes some thinking to figure out who everyone is and who they came from.

Someone loaned the sheephearder a car and Tommy Gun.
There is no way that inbred dirt farmer could afford those.
The safari son is going to bring war. They ain't gonna like it.

Watched the third episode last night and I am enjoying it
Harrison Ford looks like he is in a lot of pain just moving. I would guess an old Cowboy would have a beat up body but I can't tell if he is acting or everything really hurts
Definitely on Safari guy, I like his new woman except for the up the tree scene.

This is during prohibition. They just went in the speakeasy in town so it is likely the mob is there running them. Sheep herder probably stole the car and gun from one of them.

I’m enjoying it more than I thought I would. The safari guy’s fiancé is easy on the eyes. I enjoyed 1883 and really like Yellowstone for some reason or another.

It's a mystery.
I think this franchise has been milked to dryness. What's next 1934? 1952? 1977?

I feel the opposite. I'm trying to fill in the gaps. I'm enjoying all three. Guess I'm easily entertained.

The next fight will be trying to keep a Dollar Tree off the ranch.

That’s just a minor skirmish. When those Dollar Generals start popping up around every curve is when the real war gonna start.

I can’t wait for 1977. This show needs parachute pants and members only jackets.

Watched ep1 last night and like it. However, it is almost like they are intentionally not being clear about relationships...
Jacob (Harrison Ford) is James (Tim McGraw's) brother. Got it. John (the boy in 1883) is one of the cowboys but they haven't been very explicit about who he is yet. Spencer (in Africa) is John's little brother.
And Jack (about to get married) is John's son, James grandson, Spencer's nephew?
And the voiceover at the beginning says they only have one boy to make it to the depression so I guess we'll see one of them die... and John (Costner) is a III so I assume he is Jack's son and Spencer is doomed. This message has been edited. Last edited by: YellowJacket, January 10, 2023 07:33 PM

Lots of stuff to poke fun at in this series. The dialogue between Spencer and the English chick over the past two episodes, not to mention, the scenes they’re in, is absolutely insufferable. It’s like something out of a Hallmark movie. On top of that, they have fake blonde Elsa from “1883” voicing over with her soliloquies.

I was definitely disappointed to hear another terrible-accent voiceover from Elsa.
I actually liked 1883 despite being pretty turned off by Elsa.
