I agree that the start was a cluster but the race, once it got off, was one of the better ones we’ve seen this year.
Lots of different tire strategies and even teams splitting their own strategies showing that things weren’t as well known as they hoped.
Congratulations to Max for the first win of the season and also a fantastic drive from Lewis where he had to tell the pit wall how to strategize the race after they started on the wrong tire..This message has been edited. Last edited by: smlsig,

Definitely turned into an interesting race with the mixed field. Great drives by the Ferraris, big bummer for GR63. I'd forgotten about LH's engine failure at Sepang in 2016, nearly in the same place IIRC.

It is Ferrari after all.
“What is this ‘race strategy’ you speak of?”

What a mess that aprint was. Has to be the most DNFs in any competitive session in a long time.

I was expecting a big pileup in turn 1 but everyone was pretty careful. There is so much to lose and not much to gain by taking any risks with qualifying for the main race coming shortly after the sprint race. With all the recent FIA electrical/software issues, I'd be interested to see if Hadjars problems were related. Not a smart move by the McLaren boys to throw away the positions on the last lap. Ditto for Russell pitching it off while not really under any pressure.
