Yeah, the ability for a crew to execute a few second less efficient stop without detection or collusion would be pretty tough. Anything more than that will have a pile of folks piling on to help.
Dan, you might have a future writing for British tabloids however!

They wouldn't be there long if there was a hint of intentionally slowing the stop.
Almost all the slow stops this year have been on Lando's car. The F1-TV folks mentioned that and had some replays. Each time it was a different corner of the car or a different position on the crew.
The wheel gun/socket itself seemed to the most common problem area but sometimes another guy getting the wheel onto or off was a problem.
I have no special insight but have noticed in the recent events, the second car to stop seems to be having the issues. Not sure if that's coincidence or something else.
Recall Sauber having significant pit issues last year, related to the wheel guns/nuts.
Happens to any of them
Bummed I won't be at COTA next weekend. My rep hasn't been around much this year, so I wasn't able to rub shoulders & try to score some suite tickets again
But, my daughter also has a crazy busy marching band schedule for October, so it would've been a long shot anyway.

So how long would a stop have to go "over" in order for McLaren to declare "Papaya Rules" now that a bad pit stop can be declared "not fair?" Sure it was a different McLaren, but Alonso also got in trouble for paying his side of the garage extra in order to get ahead of Lewis.
And since we're talking about scummy pit stops, would a driver having to use anti-stall to get out of the pit stall count as an issue for a declaration of "Papaya Rules?" This is the kind of garbage they've opened themselves up to.
October 11, 2025, 09:21 AM
220-9erThe difference in that Papaya Rules incident was that it changed the order of the two cars and they could do the switch back without any other teams cars being in the way. Not the specific length of the stop.
At that last event it only increased the gap as Oscar was already behind.
There have been several others this year where Lando had the bad stop but they didn't switch positions.
Even with a normal stop time it's not likely he could have passed Lando due to the nature to the track and the aero effect.
Many speculate that the gloves may now come off but the drivers need to be careful as a DNF or double DNF would play perfectly to Max's advantage as that's something he really needs to have a realistic chance.
What needs to happen is for McLaren to get on top of this issue before the crews so stressed that they choke, as can happen with a driver. In the case of the crew, there are so many more than just one and they all have to be perfect for those two second stops to happen regularly.

P250UA5AppleTV to take over US F1 broadcast rights.
quote:
Formula 1 has announced a five-year partnership with Apple to become the sport’s exclusive U.S. broadcast partner from 2026, bringing together two global brands with a shared passion for innovation, excellence, and entertainment.
The news follows on from the hugely successful F1 The Movie, the Apple Original Film, which was released internationally in cinemas and IMAX venues in June and will make its global streaming debut date on Apple TV on Friday, December 12 2025.
Apple invested significantly in the project and worked with the F1 community in an unprecedented collaboration over three years to deliver a truly authentic and immersive racing movie for new and established F1 fans.
Critically acclaimed worldwide, F1 The Movie has grossed nearly $630 million globally to date, making it the most successful sports movie in history.
Importantly, as demonstrated by F1 The Movie, Apple’s ability to reach a diverse range of consumers across its powerful ecosystem presents a groundbreaking opportunity to engage new fans.
The 2025 Global F1 Fan Survey found that 47% of new U.S. F1 fans, who have been following the sport for five years or less, are aged 18-24, while over half are female, underlining the partnership’s huge potential to expand the sport’s younger and more diverse audience.
In addition to showing F1 on Apple TV, Apple will amplify the sport across Apple News, Apple Maps, Apple Music, Apple Sports, and Apple Fitness+.
This new broadcast agreement will see Apple TV host all Free Practice, Qualifying, Sprint sessions, and Grands Prix. Select races and all Free Practice sessions throughout the season will also be available to watch for free in the Apple TV app.
F1 TV Premium, F1’s own premier content offering, will continue to be available in the U.S. via an Apple TV subscription only and will be free for those who subscribe.
Additional information, including production and product details, and all the ways fans will be able to enjoy F1 content across their favourite Apple products and services, will be announced in the coming months.
“This is an incredibly exciting partnership for both Formula 1 and Apple that will ensure we can continue to maximise our growth potential in the U.S. with the right content and innovative distribution channels,” said Stefano Domenicali, President and CEO of Formula 1.
“We are no strangers to each other, having spent the past three years working together to create F1 The Movie, which has already proven to be a huge hit around the world.
“We have a shared vision to bring this amazing sport to our fans in the U.S. and entice new fans through live broadcasts, engaging content, and a year-round approach to keep them hooked.
“I want to thank Tim Cook [Apple’s CEO], Eddy Cue [Apple’s Senior Vice President of Services], and the entire Apple team for their vision, enthusiasm and passionate approach to delivering this partnership, and we are looking forward to the next five years together.”
Cue said: “We’re thrilled to expand our relationship with Formula 1 and offer Apple TV subscribers in the U.S. front row access to one of the most exciting and fastest-growing sports on the planet.
“2026 marks a transformative new era for Formula 1 from new teams to new regulations and cars with the best drivers in the world, and we look forward to delivering premium and innovative fan-first coverage to our customers in a way that only Apple can.”
Article says F1TV Premium is included. Wondering if the base F1TV pkg remains in effect, or if they're dropping it & going to AppleTV only.
I'll be quite unhappy if we have to pick up AppleTV to keep F1 coverage.

GeorgeairBesides the Apple inconvenience, it looks like they took the Netflix strategy of drawing in massive additional audience and dialed it up to 11.
All while investing a shitton of time and money in a $200-300MM movie which has already grossed about $628MM.
Freaking genius.

P250UA5While I enjoyed the F1 movie much more than I was expecting, I'm not an Apple user, so this would be an inconvenience if the existing F1TV access changes.

DanHAnd McLaren wants to blame Hulkenberg for something that was 100% caused by Piastri. I think Verstappen is something like 52 points out of 1st place, and most of that can be covered by 2 wins if Piastri or Norris can't stop being retards.

I initially had the blame on HUL or ALO
Later replay showed Oscar squeezed Hulk & the dominos fell from there
And Lance picks up a 5 place penalty for tomorrow, for his dive bomb into T1.

220-9erShould be interesting to see what happens with Lance over the winter.
Aston becomes the factory Honda team next year so dad may not be able to cover for him in that situation.
He's been pretty much nowhere all season except when he shows up in the highlight reel in a crash. Today it was clearly his fault too.

I predict nothing because the only person in F1 that loves Lance is his Dad, and if Daddy Stroll was going to dump his kid, he would have sent him to WEC by now to be an Aston Martin driver.
