I fear that if Apple wins, they will sunset F1.tv and Skysports, thus putting F1 exclusively behind the Apple paywall. I really don't want another subscription.

DanHThat wouldn't bother me as T-Mobile pays for my Apple tv. It would be one less subscription for me.

P250UA5Ugh, really hope they don't mess with F1TV

RipleyA disappointing development. I know zero specifics, how does F1 think this would extend their reach? Seems like it would serve Apple a lot better than F1.

The opposite of Andretti F1

Instead of F1 adding more to Andretti than Andretti adds to F1.
Hoping they keep their hands off F1TV. Is AppleTV available 'everywhere' internationally? Would be curious if more international reach keeps F1TV going.

220-9erF1-TV is $85 a year.
Apple TV is $120 a year.
I'm not so worried about the $35 extra but would like to have the British based commentary.
We'll have to see how this develops. My guess is they will try to make it where you have to use Apple, at least in countries like the US.

DanHThat F1TV price is without 4K or all the optional live cameras during the race. Add that in and we're back to $120 a year.

GeorgeairWhen I saw this I read it as US rights only for now. But, of course, in the continuing efforts of Apple to take over the world I'm sure they would love to expand that into other countries. As a shareholder I support this. As a fan, unsure.
If it's $150MM for just US rights, once they get real traction and are paying for other streams that could be, in words of Dry Eye in
The Gentlemen, a LOT of money for F1.

Yeah...
I was watching F1 before the Netflix series, before the movie or any of the third party productions.
If it becomes an AppleTV exclusive, I have no plans to subscribe to watch anything.
Maybe they will look at the dismal ratings that other sports have when they cut to streaming only services?
Na! Seems like just any big ol' wad of cash will do.
