If LS was fighting near the front, he would be, obviously.
I don't know any Canadian publications to know if he gets more coverage there being the local.

I know the SkyF1 guys do tend to get a bit of extra attention to the Brit drivers, especially Hamilton.

Anyone know what that helmet went for? Probably more than my house.

Not on F1 nor F1Authentics. Not sure where it was auctioned.

I don't believe the intent was to sell this past weekend.

I found this, from an AI search.

"The auction for the special Jackie Stewart helmet signed by 20 Formula 1 world champions is scheduled to take place on April 21st, 2025 to May 4th, 2025. This online auction is hosted by Broad Arrow Auctions and the proceeds will benefit Jackie Stewart's Race Against Dementia charity. The helmet, which Stewart will wear during a tribute lap at the Bahrain Grand Prix on April 13th, 2025, includes signatures from all 20 living F1 world champions, including Michael Schumacher"

I tried F1 TV at the top tier for about 3 weeks and I'm not going to renew. I like the commentary team much better, and I like having access to F2 practice and qualifying, but the app on iPadOS and the website has issues, and I can't get more than 1080p on my 14" HP Omnibook while the HDR during sunset at Jeddah on my iPad Pro gave me a migraine in my left eye while watching practice.

The biggest problem is the Archives before 2000 are a complete joke. Almost every season has only 5 races while between YouTube and Dailymotion, I have US commentary for almost every race from 1988 to 2004 and the few documentaries they have are incredibly short and far worse than what Top F1 YouTubers have made on the same subjects.

They want too much money for what they offer, especially when I can't guarantee I'm getting 4K all the time and not 1080p.

Speaking of Jeddah, Yuki was keeping pretty close to Max until he threw his car into a barrier and calling out a red flag.

I've noticed that with the archives. Some seasons have a lot of full replays & some are mostly highlights.
I'm midway through 2006 now, so all season full races, the 70s it was a 1hr recap of the season sometimes.

And yes, Yuki does seem to be settling into the RBR well, until the closing laps of FP2.

The amount of money being thrown about in F1 is mind blowing…
Apparently Lawrence Stroll (AKA BIG DADDY) is spending money to get what he wants which is no suprise.

First, he built a brand new headquarters. Then he built what is arguably the best wind tunnel in existence. Shortly after that he hires Adrian Newey away from Red Bull.

Now the latest rumor is that Big Daddy has offered Max Verstappen the eye watering sum of $300,000,000 for a three year contract! Apparently there are clauses in Max’s contract that allows him to walk if Red Bull doesn’t deliver and so far that appears to be the case…

So would he pay Alonso a bonus for ending his contract early or sign Verstappen for 2027?

I'd be less annoyed if FOM wasn't one of the biggest thieves on YouTube stealing ad revenue from creators and throwing out takedowns for content they can't be bothered to put on F1 TV (like US commentary for races).

After watching ESPN vs BBC on races since 1988, I am astounded how much better the graphics were for the ESPN races compared to what FOM provided on the world wide feed. It took Bernie until 2002 to finally get where the US were in the mid 1990's. 1998 was the last year for Chris Economaki to call every race, and from 1989-1996, Bob Varsha called just about every race for ESPN with some exceptions. He only called 3 or 4 in 1997 because ESPN moved Paul Page to cover the IRL and slotted Varsha in for CART. He was replaced by John Watson who was awful. He completely missed Schumacher intentionally ramming Villeneuve at Jerez when the replays showed Schuey getting out of the way and then turning into Villeneuve trying to take him out of the race.

ESPN lost the rights to Fox for 1998 and things were interesting. F1 was broadcasted on Fox Sports Net with Mike Joy and Derek Bell providing commentary while a more deluxe broadcast was on Speedvision hosted by Sam Posey, David Hobbs, and Derek Daly. Bob Varsha jumped ship from ESPN in 2001 and became the main play-by-play commentator on Speed until NBC picked up the rights while Fox Sports Net dropped F1 completely. I'm not sure when Steve Matchett joined the crew because I've only just started 2001.

Varsha was the best IMO. He was enthusiastic and respectful without gushing and shouting. As the announce team anchor, he would seamlessly involve his partners as needed and their rapport was genuine. We got to spend an evening with him, Hobbs and Matchett at a Speed Channel "VIP" gettogether and at some downtown Indy penthouse during one of those Indy USGP's. I didn't feel worthy yet there we were, good times. Smile

Lando, Lando, Lando. It was for the two McLarens to lose and that they did. Just one a lot worse than the other. At least it wasn't in Q1 but not an easy challenge to get close to the front guys from 10th.
Yuki has been talked up by a lot of people this weekend but he binned it in an unforced error yesterday and was a second behind Max in qualifying.

I guess I'm not too picky about the coverage because in my early days of race watching, only one GP even appeared on TV. That was Monaco on ABC's Wide World of Sports. The format was showing it a week later and split with other events I had no interest in like gymnastics or pool tournaments.

Lando just choked. I know we're only 5 races into the season, but he's going to have a problem making the podium again starting in 10th. Oscar just keeps getting better and better, but was pipped at the last second. I can see Piastri turning into the lead McLaren driver if things keep happening like this.

The weird thing looking back is that until the mid 90's, Monaco was not included in ESPN's deal to show F1. ABC held onto it until 1996 or 1997 when the deals ended and Fox was able to pick up the whole season.

A bit of an unforced/unlucky error, just a stab too much throttle on the kerb.
We'll see how hard overtaking is, on what looks too be too much of a high speed flow circuit with only a couple hard braking spots to make it stick
Go Softs from the start for the extra pace/grip & hope for an early SC?

IIRC they adjusted the DRS zones after the cat/mouse games [Max/Charles?] A couple years ago.

He is doing a lot better than Lawson did...plus he played toe "team game" and gave Max a big tow down the straight that helped him pip Oscar for the Pole

Pretty interesting that Sainz is up to 6th...he must be developing better confidence in the Williams to do that between the walls

If Piastri had taken that pole, that's a statement that everybody saw. To keep his foot in it knowing he's the only Mac would have shown a champion's confidence and talent. I guess he did the right thing but....

Echoing above, Yuki is definitely settling in decently, so far.
The petulant, argumentative driver seems to have settled. A lot like Max at STR when he was overly vocal & took some pretty risky moves.

Tomorrow should be interesting, hope Lando can pull it out
