The other big note about the new Monaco contract is that it moves to the first week of June after 2025. I'm kind of sad because we lose the "Most Prestigious Day of Racing" for morning, noon, and night. On the other hand, it's also said to move Canada to after Miami so they can stay in North America and save on transportation.

Marko (as referenced in that link) pushing young drivers to boost their cred for F1 seats be doing more on social media seems to have the eye off the ball. He opposed Ricciardo getting Perez's slot, even for part of a season, when he has a much higher social media/web recognition than any of the other options. Certainly the problems with the Red Bull car may have still not fit DR's driving style, but bringing him up, even if it was on a "rest of the season" deal, subject to renewal would have done no worse on the track, and better than how it played out off the track.

The totals are fun, but I'd like to see the underlying assumptions. Not because I'm questioning them as much as I'm interested in their estimates on a component by component basis.

Supposedly, they're based on the team's estimates to the FIA in regards to the Cost Cap in place. It's also something that has only recently happened since I can't recall ever hearing of this more than 3 years ago.

I got to admit I am pretty excited about this movie. . .

Sounds like Lewis is making it as authentic as possible. Maybe I will drive to see it on the Imax . . .

Cautiously optimistic, from the trailer. Hard to top Rush, IMO.

"Damn. Poor Williams." That really had to hurt in a lot of ways.
Lewis sure shot himself in the foot. He had the car this time and screwed up both times.
The opposite of that was Gasly's performance. I was waiting for the announcement that he had somehow cut across a corner somewhere. I guess they figured out how to get the tires in temperature range somehow.
The first turn tomorrow should be wild without a big upturn in the temperature. Might be a good race to start from the pitlane.
So how much stock did Colapinto lose smashing another car? This won't be helping him getting a VcaRB seat.

It was a great race...possibly the best of the year
The first few laps will have you on the edge of your seat. There was great action all up and down the field throughout most of the race

I just finished Q2, from the headlines I'd seen, I was expecting a much more significant event. Supposedly it was 50G impact. Good to see him exit the car unaided.
Edit: Just finished the race, very good for what is not one of my favorite tracks. This message has been edited. Last edited by: P250UA5, November 24, 2024 03:02 PM

The track looks unimpressive on paper but we've had two very entertaining races there, it's fast and it's racy. Everyone complains about it going in, poor grip and too cold but it works, I'm looking forward to it next year.
F1 confirms agreement in principle for GM/Cadillac to enter in 2026 Chris Medland November 25, 2024 1:36 PM ET
Formula 1 has reached an agreement in principle that will bring General Motors onto the grid under the Cadillac brand as the 11th team in 2026.
The project was given approval by the FIA last year but in January the commercial assessment from F1 resulted in an Andretti Cadillac team rejected for 2026. At the time, F1 said it would be more open to a 2028 entry if GM committed to producing its own power unit – as it had indicated it would – and discussions have continued since then with both the car manufacturer as well as its partners at TWG Global.
“Over the course of this year, they have achieved operational milestones and made clear their commitment to brand the 11th team GM/Cadillac, and that GM will enter as an engine supplier at a later time,” F1 said in a statement. “Formula 1 is therefore pleased to move forward with this application process and will provide further updates in due course.”
Following the initial response in January, RACER understands that outgoing Liberty Media president and CEO Greg Maffei has played a significant role in evolving GM’s plans.
“With Formula 1’s continued growth plans in the U.S., we have always believed that welcoming an impressive U.S. brand like GM/Cadillac to the grid and GM as a future power unit supplier could bring additional value and interest to the sport,” Maffei said.
“We credit the leadership of General Motors and their partners with significant progress in their readiness to enter Formula 1. We are excited to move forward with the application process for the GM/Cadillac team to enter the Championship in 2026.”
F1 CEO Stefano Domenicali says the project now has the full support of all of the sport’s key stakeholders as it works towards entering in just over a year’s time.
“General Motors and Cadillac’s commitment to this project is an important and positive demonstration of the evolution of our sport,” Domenicali said. “We look forward to seeing the progress and growth of this entry, certain of the full collaboration and support of all the parties involved.”

So, a GM works team, or is that what they're calling Andretti F1?

Basically. Same project with the same people minus Michael Andretti.

Lots of things to discuss other than the racing itself, and that's unfortunate.
Penalties that were much more severe, some that nobody had heard of or enforced before, a bad call to leave dangerous debris on the track (regardless of if it caused the punctures) all related to a number of recent hiring and firings of officials.
Nice to see there was some passing but why can't they correct this at tracks like Qatar that have wide open areas to make changes?
