DP has been one of my favorite rock groups since the 60s. Made in Japan is the best live album ever.

Also an all-time favorite, had it initially on 8-track.
Highway Star is among my favorite songs of all time as well.
Cool

While I'm a DP fan (and bigger Crimson fan - nod to your avatar), I believe that The Who "Live at Leeds" to be the best live album ever.

Been following this band for a long time in all their versions, but never got to see Blackie live.
Did see Tommy Bolin before death by misadventure got him.

I saw DP with Tommy Bolin as well at Radio City Music Hall.
The first song was Burn.

And the opening act was Nazareth.

No kidding, about ‘75 we had just moved “to the woods” from north Houston to about 30 miles north. It was and still is a decent subdivision, none the less, pure east Texas.
I was about 12 or 13; inside the house one afternoon, I heard from outside the unmistakable lead in to smoke on the water. I thought My Gosh who has a stereo that loud. I opened the front door and saw the sound was coming from across the road, from the open garage, and it wasn’t a stereo. It was about 5 long haired dudes, just ripping it up. I sat down on our front porch and soaked it up. Mitch and Mike Moses, if you guys are still around, rock on.

Yep that was in 1976 and Nazareth was the opening band and tickets were $6.00. Those were the days. Smile

I saw them with Blackmore at the old Seattle Center Coliseum 1974.
Electric Light Orchestra opened.
Long version of highway star was the hit of the night, Blackmore totally went into the guitar god zone.
Absolutely epic.
Saw Led Zepplin there a few months later. I had a pretty good run going.
