Mandy, directed by Panos Cosmatos - who also did the excellent Beyond the Black Rainbow (2010). Stars Nicolas Cage and Andrea Riseborough. streamed it on amazon for $3.99. I would've seen it at the theater if it played here.

This might be a year or two old, I'm not sure, but I just watched Wind River on Netflix and thought it was superb: great acting, directing, cinematography, and a very moving story. I don't want to give anything away for those who might watch it, but there are some scenes that just brought me to tears-- and few films do that.

It's one of the most moving presentations of grief that I have ever seen. Not an easy movie to watch because some scenes are just hard to take-- a rape scene, for instance. But I highly recommend the movie.

I'd enjoy hearing what others thought about it.

Hostiles and Phantom Thread are the best films I have seen so far released in 2018. I’m sure that will change with many excellent films set for release over the final portion of 2018. Looking forward to the Mule and Vice. Eastwood and Bale never let me down.

Pretty weak year for movies. I think my favorite so far is Wes Anderson's Isle of Dogs.

Wind River mentioned above was my favorite film from 2017. Now that's the kind of filmmaking I like to see Hawkeye and Scarlet Witch in - not that comic book crap!

I never go to a movie theater, I just wait for it on disc or streaming so I could be behind on the year. My favorite so far is Upgrade. Followed closely by
Blade Runner 2049
It
Annihilation
John Wick Chapter 2
Kingsman The Golden Circle
Life
Alien Covenant
and I am one of those guys that like most all of the recent DC and Marvel comic book movies.

This year has been slow for movies for me. I did just rent Mile 22 on pay per view. I liked it and so did my wife. Sicario: Day of the Soldado was o.k. but I was kind of disappointed in it after the first one - which was GREAT.

I did like Den of Thieves too.

Wind River = GREAT movie, bought the DVD, have watched it 4-5 times already. Going to watch it again soon - gets one in the mood for winter weather Smile

I’ve actually watched The Greatest Showman more than any this year but it is a 2017 release.

Pretty disappointing year for me, but I would have to say Upgrade was the best movie I saw. While Avengers 3 was okay, and probably a better movie, I put Upgrade in a similar category to Dredd.

Upgrade was surprisingly good. Good, period, and better than we expected.
