At youtube video, click "share" at far right. Then click "embed" at far left. Copy the code that shows and click "copy". Paste that in the "film" icon second to last icon in the post window.

Was in Iceland in the early '70s.
I still remember the first time I heard this. Where I was and how it had such impact.
(those things in life, that are forever etched in your consciousness, because it tied to points in my earlier life...)

I remember this being the intro to the independent TV station's weekly late-night horror movie.

This was one of the first five or so albums I ever bought. I was in junior high school and whenever it played during lunch, everyone would become mesmerized. After not too long, it was banned from being played. It did have a big impact.

There is a reason people are still listening to 60’s and 70’s music.
50 and 69 years later
It was good

Technically, I guess 1970 is the last year of the decade of the 60s, but hey…
This is a traditional English/Scottish poem and folksong that probably goes back to the 16th century. There are many versions, but the one most often carried forward is from Robert Burns, published in 1782.
“The character of John Barleycorn in the song is a personification of the important cereal crop, barley, and of the alcoholic beverages made from it, beer and whisky. In the song, John Barleycorn is represented as suffering indignities, attacks and death that correspond to the various stages of barley cultivation, such as reaping and malting.” - Wiki
This is the title track from Traffic’s 1970 album, and the performance is “brilliant,” as the Brits would say.

Trying not to repeat from prior threads.
