BisleyblackhawkI voted he is in the top ten...especially in
Will Penny and in
The Mountain Men (which I regard as a "western figure"

).

amalsWhile I suppose he did fine in some cowboy roles, I would never have thought of him when thinking of my favorites. Certainly not in my top ten.

mikeyspizzaI must be the only one who voted "Passable," and it doesn't even register!

YooperSigsI think his best western roles were in The Big Country and Will Penny.
I voted passable too.

oddballPassable.
He was good in The Big Country, haven't seen it in years though. He was OK in Tombstone. I think he came off better playing a supporting role in westerns. His talents were elsewhere.

TMatsOK, I voted “passable, but not great.” What do YOU say bendable? You asked but never said why, or what you think about his roles in Westerns.

bendableI'd have picked a half dozen others , prior to choosing Heston in the roll of a western figure or cow poke.

2BobTannerIs “Major Dundee” a Western or a war flick (set in 1864-65 in Texas/Arizona-New Mexico territories). Senta Berger was definitely “eye candy”.

I would choose way more than a half dozen. Hell, a dozen TV actors would have been better.

That’s not one of the choices.

Probably my Heston favorite. Richard Harris was good in it as well.

bkmooneyI really like Will Penny and The Big Country. Watch both of them most every time I see them on, but it would be really hard for me to put Heston in my top ten Western actors.

Two of my favorites as well. Will Penny, not your typical western, but greatly played.
Totally different character in Mountain Men.
