Another "Worst Western Ever."
Gunslingers with Nick Cage and some other guys.

Reviews are almost unanimous: one star. The best description I've seen was this:

"Good lord, I unfortunately started watching it and then couldn’t get a refund, so I cracked open a case of land shark and downed 3 real quick so the buzz was good sat back down in the old recliner pulled the yeti close to the chair leaned back put my feet up and watched the guy from Blade shoot a bunch of guys, then the guy from saw movies hang him , kept looking for Henry Danger but only saw captain man, then the actor from gone in 60 seconds lost his voice and apparently any self respect."

That pretty much summed it up. Ole' Nick Cage. What a waste.

In Hollywood, there are neither writers nor directors, directors of photography, actors, wardrobe/costumers, set designers, property/armourer personnel, stunt men/women, wranglers and their horses, etc, who know how to make a good A level western, let alone a decent B level one today.
The last new western I watched was Yellowstone 1883, and I thought it was awful; T. Sheridan was clueless as to what makes a good western.

I liked the part where they were counting their ammunition and mentioned how many .357 rounds they had left.

Tried watching it yesterday. That's 20 minutes I'll never get back.

Question for Nick Cage, barking? What's with the barking?

Since the heyday of Westerns ended in the 1970s, many of them weren't even born yet.

Old Henry was pretty good. It weren’t no The Outlaw Josey Wales but still pretty good.

Perusing the category of "Westerns" on one of my streaming movie channels, I'm always amused to see "Cowboys And Aliens."

"It weren't no". Love it. Smile
I read that in Old Henry's voice

As the evening turned to night, I was not in the mood for college football, so I searched through Netflix and Amazon for something to watch.

I ran across this movie and decided to watch the trailer. Wow.. Besides being horrible, I really did not get a good feel for what it is about.

Rather than start another thread, tonight we watched what could be called a contemporary Western, One Ranger. It starred Thomas Jane, who was great in The Punisher. In this one he plays a Texas Ranger with the worst Texas accent you ever heard, and liberally uses words like “reckon” and “grub.” He’s a cartoon character. The script is actually palatable, about hunting down a former IRA terrorist, planning a big attack; that’s what kept us watching. Whoever made Thomas Jane talk like that should be strung up, to use a phrase they neglected to throw out there.

Those films were made in 1992 and 1993, respectively; over 30 years ago.
I enjoy watching westerns and 'pickings have been slim' the last several decades as concerns new ones in my opinion.

I've been watching some older TV shows recently; just finishing up "Have Gun, Will Travel" and am pleasantly pleased and surprised at how good the writing and acting was in a significant number of those episodes.
