BMRWhen I think of Jackie Mason, I always think of John Byner imitating his voice as the Aardvark in “The Ant and the Aardvark.”

Actually Sullivan later apologized and Mason returned to the show several times.

divilR.I.P. Mr Mason. Loved his aardvark voice. Supposedly Mr. Mason was a supporter of the 2A, which is a rare thing in the entertainment business.

Apparently so divil, as I thought also. Did a little digging, and found one article mentioning his stance.

casPretty conservative he was, he was on the radio often, but I can't remember now who's show it was.

The director was signalling Mason that his time was up and he had to wrap up his act. Mason simply ad libbed the line under pressure, but, the damage was done.
BTW, Mason is yet another person who I thought had died years ago. I hear that some celebrity died and I think "I thought they died in the 1990s."

NK402My brother met Jackie Mason in an airport VIP lounge years ago. They were both waiting on delayed flights. He said it was the funniest hour he's ever spent.

corsairWow...93. I also thought Mason had already departed. Not sure if he was more entertaining as himself or, when other people would imitate him and his mannerisms. Ant & Aardvark was always entertaining.
