She was treasure. I am sorry she is gone.

She can now sing Coal Miner's Daughter for her father.

I just read this
A very sad day in music

Everyone in my family, and I mean everyone: Grandparents, aunts, uncles etc.. loved her.

My family is from KY and WV, and many of them worked in the coal mines. They knew/understood where she came from.

My family went to see her in person a few times. I was really young the first time we saw her and it was at veterans Memorial in Cols, OH. She put on an awesome show. We didn't have much money when I was growing up, so to get to go to a concert was a very special treat.

RIP, Loretta. The other weekend the movie "Coal Miner's Daughter" was playing on TV. Three of my siblings and I were sitting around, enjoying it, tossing out factoids, memories of her songs and appearances, discussing Ernest Tubb and Patsy Cline too...it was all very family. A career that lasted for over 60 years. Legend.

My maternal grandmother, the sweetest lady ever, looked and sounded much like Loretta Lynn. The accent was a bit different, since grandma was from East Texas, but I could never hear Ms. Lynn speak without thinking of her.

Really, it was a remarkable resemblance. not only in appearance and voice, but in demeanor as well.

1981, my wife and I rode our BMW motorcycles to the first national rally that we attended. Loretta Lynn's ranch was a huge campground that week, hosting around 6,000 motorcyclists.

She made a tour of the campground, saying "hi" to us.

I grew up with her music as my parents were fans.

I was fortunate to see her on a USO tour in West Germany circa 1988. Someone there (I think it was our squadron commander) looked a bit like George Strait when he had his cowboy hat on. She comes on stage and promptly points this out to the crowd. Twas a great opportunity to see her that night.
