No other band has probably influenced my early life as much as Rush did. I probably played Permanent Waves a thousand times, even mixing a cassette tape with a 20 minute loop of the end of Natural Science as a meditative tool as a 16 year old to fall asleep. Painting a large Banner on a bed sheet with the logo of their first album to hang over the railing at their Moving Pictures tour and sleeping over night with my HS buddies to be first in line to get tickets are treasured memories. I only saw them live that one time but that's all I needed. I missed a few years in the 90s, but caught back up with Counterparts and lastly with Clockwork Angels. Working Man and Road to Bankok forged my adolescence among others including Tom Sawyer.
Geddy has released his memoir and I work forward to devouring it. I go through phases of obsession of all things Rush and the passing of Neil only reinforces my appreciation for this brief gift of life I have been given.

Never saw them in concert, but I'm a big Rush fan too. La Villa Straingato (Exit Stage Left version) is my favorite from them with 2112 Overture being a close second.
I was very sad when Neil died. They were a great band.
You should check out Henderson Brewing. They have a US distributor but my pockets aren't that deep. I did get some of the 2112-themed glasses though.
Oh, and it's TRAIN to Bangkok. On board the Thailand Express.

The song title is "A Passage to Bangkok".
Rush was the soundtrack to my adolescence. The first concert I ever attended was the 1982 Signals tour at the Civic Arena in Pittsburgh. I was 12 years old.
I saw them a bunch of times after that. Still in my top 3: Zepplin, The Beatles and Rush.
Neil passing hit me hard.

Not a day goes by that I don't listen at least a little bit. I've seen them four times live. Geddy's book is on my desk as we speak. I'd be interested in additional work from Lee and Lifeson, but please Rush is over.

Wasn’t a huge fan but can see the brilliance of each of the musicians. I respect and honor what the did for music. That said, I have a neighbor who feels like the OP and his wife didn’t want to go to a show here in Nashville before Neil died. I was given the opportunity to attend in her place, and will say that they were one of the. Best live performance bands I have seen in concert.

I can't say I'm a huge Rush fan, but I've certainly listened to them quite a bit and have a few of their albums.
I saw them live only one, Clockwork Angels tour. I really enjoyed it and wish I'd seen them during earlier times.
One thing I will say about that concert and I don't know if it was typical for them, but it was loud! I'm no novice when it comes to concerts and have seen some loud bands, but that concert was exceptionally loud to me.

So many great concerts. The Vapor Trails tour was one of my favorites. It was a very sad day when Neil died. A daily song or two makes the day a little easier.

Yup, that's it! I've not listened to that album in awhile.
I saw them once, the Grace Under Pressure tour. For some reason Y&T opened for them. 2nd row, fantastic show.

I saw Rush close to 100x and I currently play in a Rush tribute band in Phoenix. I'm a bit of a fan.

Not a diehard Rush fan but I enjoyed their music. Another similar band from Canada that was hitting the scene at about the same time was a group called Triumph. Three players.
I was very sad when Peart passed away. He was a genius on the drums.

Love them except for that period after Power Windows to Roll The Bones where they got too synthy. I did get to see them on their R40 tour and loved watching them literally go back in time with their music and their stage. As they went further back, the Roadies continually rebuilt the stage to make it time period accurate. It finally got to the point where the backdrop turned into a high school gym and finishing off with Working Man.
I'm currently on my movie music kick, but it'll switch back to Rush. Their live albums are almost always better than their studio albums.

I think that's their sweet spot too. From Moving Pictures to Power Windows. Each recording was different, but from start to finish very good. I don't mess with the live albums anymore. Except Exit Stage Left. Broon's Bane through Xanadu is just an exceptional masterpiece. Otherwise, that album is a horrible overproduced and dull recording. For live stuff, the DVDs are where it's at man.

Can't listen to DVDs on the go, but Different Stages and the Clockwork Angels tour are must haves.

For me I would go back a bit more.
2112 through Power Windows. After that my interest in the music starts to drop off.

Just picked this up on my regular thrift store browsing (June '07). The Trees is one of my favorite.
