Most modern comedic movies are rather juvenile. Not really my cup of tea.
I did recently come across one forgotten movie that gave me several chuckles. The Money Pit with Hanks and Long. I think I find it funny somewhat because I can identify w/ a house being a money pit.
I enjoyed it, again.

I definitely like comedies more than other genres. I’ve never actually watched The Money Pit so I may have to look for that one.
One of my favorite comedies was always Dead Men Don’t Wear Plaid. I’m sure it would be lost on someone not familiar with old black and white movies but it’s hilarious and the old movies are edited in so well. Totally silly stuff.

Murder by Death is a favorite of mine. Set up in an old mansion with just enough silliness to make it fun. Truman Capote, Peter Falk and Peter Sellers combo help a lot too.

Rat Race, which is basically a remake of this, is also hilarious. I thought I was gonna die during the whole John Lovitz “Hitler scene”.

The Money Pit has two great scenes: The bathtub falling through the floor and Hanks maniacal laughing. And the raccoon jumping out of the dumbwaiter onto Longs face. And I have to mention... The Dude abides!

I always enjoyed "Guide for the Married Man". Most older Steve martin movies also are funny, I especially enjoy the "Jerk". Old Woody Allen movies are good. "Whats up Tiger lily" and "Everything you wanted to know about Sex" are two favorites.

Don't forget the Inspector Clouseau Pink Panther movies: A Shot in the Dark and The Pink Panther were the ones with Peter Sellers. I never watched the follow-ups.
Another special favorite is the original "Dirty Rotten Scoundrels" starring Steve Martin and Michael Caine.

I need to check out The Money Pit.
I'll add another recommendation for The Burbs. That's a fun one.
Fletch is probably my favorite comedy film ever.
I agree with those who think the current comedy output is weak.
