That won't be necessary, Mr. Laskey, he's here to see YOU off.

The thing that always gets me about this movie is that the Nimitz went through the portal without escorts. You’d think, going into something unknown, you’d want all the firepower and resources you could muster, just in case. And luckily, in the movie, the Nimitz wasn’t found by Japanese subs!

Nimitz turned the smaller escorts away (even the Soviet intelligence trawler left the scene), since the seas were getting too rough for them. For some reason, the 'time storm' targeted and chased Nimitz down.
There were IJN subs around Pearl on 6-7 Dec. 5 of them launched mini-subs, and another dozen or so lurked nearby to torpedo any American ships trying to leave the harbor. However, prior to the attack, they probably had orders to stay deep and hidden. An American indicator of impending attack was the presence of Japanese subs near Pearl. This is why the failure to alert anybody about the attack on a Japanese mini-sub by destroyer USS Ward was so critical. Nobody believed the ship's crew that they attacked and destroyed a sub right of Pearl's entrance. This was a HUGE red flag, and it was criminally negligent that the island wasn't placed on immediate alert.

Yep, this bunch "made" me do it! Enjoyed it, for sure, particularly all the aircraft carrier operations. Thanks, guys!

Just watched this. Somehow never had. Enjoyed it, but hoped for a little more action.
