SigmundDennis DeYoung and the Music of Styx - Live in Los Angeles
Here's a 1:36 concert from 2014, music quality is outstanding.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?...lyc&feature=youtu.beI don't recall the details of the break-up, but I know there's some bad blood (oops, that's Elton John) between Dennis and Tommy Shaw. I'll ignore that to hear a great concert from Dennis.

thundersonYears ago I was privileged to see Jesus Christ Superstar at the Warner Theater in DC. Ted Neely and Carl Anderson reprised their roles and Irene Cara played Mary Magdalene. Dennis DeYoung played Pilate and absolutely owned that performance. He was awesome.

rusbroI'm a Styx fan, but more so of Shaw then DeYoung. That being said, I recognize his contributions and talents. His voice sounds strong as ever in that recording - thanks.
As I recall, Shaw's version of the nature of the bad blood is that he and James Young were interested mostly in straight-ahead rock and roll, and DeYoung was interested in music that supported theatrics such as the whole Killroy/Mr. Roboto stuff. DeYoung may of course have a very different accounting.

goose5I attended their last tour. I thought it was a great show that had the virtue of never being tried before. I also caught their act with the new guy. I enjoyed that too. I just remember DeYoung arguing he had an allergy to light, and thinking WTF?
