War of the Worlds on EPIX
Great new series. If you get EPIX, episode 1 is now available on demand. As the background video for the series says, the series has no similarities at all with any other version of war of the worlds. It is very different. If you are a fan of apocalyptic stories, you should like it. There are no alien space ships with death rays. Nothing like that (at least so far). The aliens send devices to major population centers all over the world. These devices eventually emit an electronic signal that interferes with brain waves that cause seizures and eventually death. A few figure out what's coming and go underground or surround themselves with metal (faraday cage). So at the end of episode 1, it looks like there has been a mass human extinction with dead bodies everywhere. Only a small number of survivors. It looks like the story line will follow what happens to the survivors. Story takes place in England, but I did like it.

I like it as well. Not over the top with ridiculous Michael Bay - like explosions. I was mad to find out that I couldn't binge watch in my usual fashion.

I was interested in it...but can't justify the cost for Epix just to watch one series.

Maybe it'll release in other venues once it's done.

I don't pay for Epix but I just watched episode 2 for free. Maybe they are letting people watch a few episodes for free and will start charging after the series gets some exposure.
