Ed King has passed away
RIP Ed King. I grew up on what is now called classic rock and I hated to hear another one gone. I saw him with Lynyrd Skynyrd in 1974 & 1975.

"But, as luck would have it, he stood up. He caught that chunk of lead." Gunnery Sergeant Carlos Hathcock
"If there's one thing this last week has taught me, it's better to have a gun and not need it than to need a gun and not have it." Clarence Worley

About 2 months ago I watched a documentary on Skynyrd and he was a big boost to the band. His songwriting skills were a essential part to their first 3 albums. RIP

I was fortunate to meet Ed a few years ago. Great guy! His signature Stratocaster licks on Sweet Home Alabama are permanently etched in history. RIP Ed.

Free as a bird now.

RIP, you veritable-god of southern rock anthems.

Looking at King's roots with Strawberry Alarm Clock, I'm hard pressed to think of another group where the lead singer was the drummer. King's guitar clearly shines here but he gets almost no face time.
