casOnly slightly, perhaps even only theoretically, because a concert is just about everything I hate rolled into one. But I passed on free tickets to see both Johnny Cash and Don Williams locally.

they hit DC a year of so before a member passed, and I did not go,
stupid of me,
never knew Kate toured the US, but did want to go see her last tour , but it sold out before I could even log on, all 12 nights,
and yes, we would have flown to London and sat in the nose bleed seats if available,
meanwhile, I did miss Oingo Boingo years ago, had to work that night and should have called out sick,
ditto Gang of 4, but did see them in the late 80's and again maybe 9 yrs ago,
biggest miss was the Clash, found out they were in DC the week after,
pre internet days, so you had to rely on mailings or the local indy record store,

cth1974This one’s a little different. September of ‘09, Dave Brubeck was at the Detroit Jazz Festival. I turned down an invite because I didn’t want to go to downtown Detroit, and thought surely he will play another venue. Even East Lansing would’ve been better than Hart Plaza in Detroit. As it turned out that was his last show in Michigan, and he passed away before I had another chance.

With Joe Morello on drums? I can see why that would cause some heartache.

I didn’t remember the lineup of the quartet at the time, but even before I looked I was hoping I didn’t miss half of the “classic” quartet. Alas, that iteration of the quartet consisted of Bobby Militello on the sax, Michael Moore (not
that Michael Moore) on bass, and Randy Jones on the drums. I still feel bad about missing it.

I saw Brubeck with Joe Morello and Paul Desmond in the school gym, when I was in college. Desmond was the epitome of cool. They played Take 5 in which, Desmond played a solo, then walked off stage, leaned against a wall and lit a cigarette, while Brubeck played his solo, finished the cigarette, returned to the stage and played another solo to end the piece.
The two I missed were Rick Nelson and Jerry Reed, separate shows but at the same small club.

Abn556I had a chance to go see Rush at The CWP in The Woodlands. I passed because it was going to be hot (outdoor concert). I thought I would get another chance to see them again, but then Neil Peart died and that chance was gone.

Sacramento JohnsonI truly regret not seeing Lucia Popp sing in person. By the time I became aware of her, she had ended her singing in the US.
I also regret not seeing Peter Hofmann sing Siegmund at the MET. I was able to get tickets to a performance of Die Walkure in I believe 1987, but it turned out that was the one performance he was off and I ended up seeing Timothy Jenkins; a serviceable Siegmund but nothing more.

400mRandy Rhoads would be my first choice although that was just outside of possible for me because I was 11. So, Ronnie James Dio, and Stevie Ray Vaughan. I still have a shot at seeing Iron Maiden and Martha Davis.

I saw Randy Rhoads/Ozzy and Rainbow at the same show in Beaumont, TX back in the day. Outdoor concert. Also had Pat Travers if memory serves. Also saw SRV in bars in Louisiana many times back in the 80s before he broke out big time.

sjtillI regret I never got to hear Fritz Wunderlich live. He died in 1966, and I was actually in Germany that year, taking in every opera performance I could at the Deutsche Opera Berlin. I heard Dietrich Fischer-Dieskau sing Georges Germont in Traviata. He could whisper and fill the whole hall. I have all of Wunderlich's recordings, and have memorized Die Schöne Müllerin from his recording.

Jim ShugartThe pianist Rudolph Serkin was my favorite growing up. He was coming to Richmond but had to cancel at the last minute because of medical problems. He died soon after.
The good news was that Itzhak Perlman filled in for him.
