It would be nice if I could post Sinéad O’Connor without having to read posts that denigrate her. I am, in fact, Catholic myself, but her voice is among the best in my lifetime. This is a great live version of “The Last Day of Our Acquaintance.”
“This is a Rebel Song,” she says it’s “a love song.

One of my favorite songs. Brings a tear to my eye whenever I hear it. No denigration from me. I've just watched a number of people spiral into mental illness and it is sad.
Powerful lyrics and a powerful voice.

Thanks, Gus. I’m probably pressing my luck with this one, but…here’s another.

eta,
was never a big fan, (don't care about her religion or politics, and I say that for all the artist I listen too, )
One of my favorite female singers - what an awesome voice. I particularly like her version of Silent Night.

Like lyman, I was not a big fan of her music, I did not buy any of her records, but I then was not a huge fan of a lot of chick singers in the 80s like The Go Gos, The Bangles, etc. But I am a huge fan of Kate Bush and The Cocteau Twins. And out of all of the O'Connor songs I listened to thru radio and friends, this one I love. From her first album.

I loved this one since I heard it in A Nightmare on Elm Street 4: Dream Master. I can't believe this is actually an '80s song. It sounds '90s.
It took me forever to figure out what this song was when I heard it on MTV's The Real World. I had no internet then!

No need to denigrate her. She does a good enough job doing it herself

I wore out the tapes of her first two albums. She was certainly troubled but she left some gorgeous music behind. The Last Day of Our Acquaintance is an all timer. Black Boys on Mopeds hit in the same way NWA did at the time. I like to imagine her and Dolores O’Riordan are somewhere just belting out some tunes together.

And that’s all I was saying with that OP. I know she was a hot mess, but she had incredible talent and that voice. Both my favorite Irish women singers are dead, but we were left with so much.
