Bautista and Momoa are half brothers with family issues trying to figure out why their dad got killed in Hawaii. They riff off each other well, it's pretty funny. Stephen Root for bonus points.

Saw the trailer a few times while watching Bosch. Looks like good 'disengage brain' comedy

The Enemy's gate is down.

It was decent, the action in it was pretty good. If you cant check your brain at the door, don't bother.

Even with my brain idling in neutral I couldn't take it. Too much stupid shit.

Three stand-out instances:

1. Full-body tattooed Naval Officer? I think not.

2. All that carnage on the highway? Multiple collateral deaths, a few thousand rounds fired and Our Heroes unscathed? Bullshit.

3. Multiple instances of full auto at close range and again, the Good Guys walk away.

I require at least an occasional nod to reality.

Be careful when following the masses. Sometimes the M is silent.

There was a Mr./Mrs. Smith Vibe going on with the car chase scene. However Brad and Angie did it far better then the CGI generated carnage done in Wrecking Crew.

Yeah, that was when it got a little nuts...though I was scratching my head at how Momoa got from Oklahoma to Hawaii in time for the funeral.

I'm not a professional movie critic...I liked it. Good mindless fun. I told my son living in Hawaii he should watch. The highway/tunnel scene is his way home from work.

I laughed the hardest at the whole bad guy behind the bulletproof window bit. Big Grin

Watched it last night, was entertaining even though it's light years from reality.
The bulletproof window scene was hilarious.

I wasn't disappointed. As mentioned, CGI was too much. That whole chase down H3 was a hard watch. My biggest takeaway was Dave Bautista is old. Too old for the character. He should have been a retiree. His John Wick style fight in the hallway was a rough watch as well. He and Mamoa played well enough off each other. I liked it well enough, but I don't expect much from movies, in general. Watch it for a bit of a disconnect from reality.

On another note, also watched Heads of State which has Stephen Root as well.

My thought as well.

That's the Idris Elba/John Cena flick, right? That had some funny bits too.

Right. I actually like it a little better than The Wrecking Crew.

Watching Playdate now, which also has Stephen Root.

I couldn't have named anything but Office Space he was in before this week. Kind of weird coincidence.

I thought this was way boring. Dave Bautista and Jason Momoa have no chemistry. The action scenes are insipid and look chintzy with all the CGI—they carry no weight. There's no sense of danger. Even the gunshots sound like kids' toy guns. Between the action are really long stretches where the characters engage in forced banter that isn't that humorous and with a ton of plot exposition. The glory days of 48 Hrs. and Lethal Weapon are definitely long gone.

I did like how the characters ate at Zippy's, because Zippy's is pretty awesome. Also, I give them props for leaving Iz Kamakawiwoʻole's "Over the Rainbow" off the soundtrack because they were using so many other overplayed radio hits, I thought for sure they were going to force this one down my ear canals too.
