Tom Waits and Remembrance of Years Past
Funny, a few artists make a stronger connection to my younger years than others; Tom Waits is one. Saw him at an intimate little concert bar in Denver, twice I think, about the time of this performance. His gravelly voice, poetic lyrics, and bare bones shows, all made a connection. Mind you, I don’t really miss those years...I just remember them.

I realize Tom Waits, like Dylan, can be an acquired taste. I have always loved his music, from his early albums, like The Heart of Saturday Night, to his later ones like Rain Dogs, Franks Wild Years. I have seen him in concert three times in the late 80s and early 90s. This clip represents the kind of shows he used to perform.

I only saw him live once in the early 80s at a small venue in Harvard Square. I had a few (maybe 3) of his albums. I always liked Nighthawks At The Diner best. Here's a cut. (I couldn't find another way to post it but there is a "skip ad" option)

Can’t tell if you’re joking...”No Regrets” is Tom Rush.

I can't think of Waits without thinking of this song in particular. I think it is masterful.

Never have to ask for the keys". Great line!
