I liked the movie.

It was entertaining, but not great.

"Based on a true story". My God has there ever been a phrase that has used as cover for more story bullshit and fuckery than this one?

That said: 2.5 stars.

Mistake not my current state of joshing gentle peevishness for the awesome and terrible majesty of the towering seas of ire that are themselves the milquetoast shallows fringing my vast oceans of wrath.

Indeed.

The book that this film is (extremely loosely) based on is excellent. A solidly written history book that delve into the founding of the British SOE and their actions during WW2:

This one is similar, and also good:

But the movie... well, it's mildly entertaining, especially if you like the style of Guy Ritchie's recent big budget action-comedy films like The Man from U.N.C.L.E, but don't mistake it for being even close to historically accurate.

They basically took some names and some basic details of an actual WW2 operation, and used that as a starting point to make a nearly completely fictional action-comedy flick.

(Compared to this film, SAS: Rogue Heroes is a damn historical documentary by comparison, and that show takes major liberties with the real life history as well.)

Why does it look so AI-ish? Seems to be a shitty growing trend and I hate it

It was crap, from any personal standpoint.

Wish the director, i blame him, would focus on delivering better products. Used to enjoy his stuff.

My nephew bought the DVD in a thrift store for $3.00
Watched it while we were away hunting. What a mess this is.
Basically a bunch of guys casually walking around like Robo-cop or the Terminator just killing tons of people at ease.

Sort of a shame/insult to the real people the idea was based off of.

If you can watch it for $3.00 or less, go ahead.

It's nice to see Superman branching out. Reacher too.
