I loved that show. I’m sad to say that “Norm” doesn’t look good for age 73. But good photo of the cast when the show was on.

Norm was in my hometown for Oktoberfest a few years ago going around to the local bars at night and then had a table set up at the festivities the following day. He was hawking his book Drinking With Norm. I bought a autographed copy and me and couple buddies got our drunken asses picture taken with him holding our dimple steins.

He was pretty tolerant of a lot of inebriated people. Seemed a nice guy.

He lived in the Beverly of Chicago, 99th and Leavitt, the house with the green awning on the corner.
I worked on his car when I was a teenager. Pretty down to earth guy.

I liked Norm on Cheers. He set the tone of the scene. Friendly neighborhood pub and his banter with Cliff was priceless. I'm not sure he did much else. sad to see him in such decline, but he knows deep down why he's there, so his choice.

Cliff expounds his ‘Buffalo Herd’ analogy to Norm:

"Well ya see, Norm, it's like this… A herd of buffalo can only move as fast as the slowest buffalo. And when the herd is hunted, it is the slowest and weakest ones at the back that are killed first. This natural selection is good for the herd as a whole, because the general speed and health of the whole group keeps improving by the regular killing of the weakest members.

In much the same way, the human brain can only operate as fast as the slowest brain cells. Excessive intake of alcohol, as we know, kills brain cells. But naturally it attacks the slowest and weakest brain cells first.

In this way, regular consumption of beer eliminates the weaker brain cells, making the brain a faster and more efficient machine. That's why you always feel smarter after a few beers."

No, this didn’t actually happen on the show. But it absolutely sounds like Cliff. Glad someone, anonymous AFAIK, wrote it.

Kinda chaps my azz.

He is keeping a low profile and they stalk him at his house to post pics of him not looking his best.

Are white New Balance shoes issued to you from the government when you hit 65 or something? Razz

My had has been wearing them for decades, but I can't put my finger on the point when it became the uniform.
