PASigNew To "The Rookie" And A Question About Season 3
My wife and I started watching The Rookie after Blue Bloods ended and just got into Season 3, WTF
I understand that this season happened right during Covid (which they ignore thankfully) and BLM in 2021 but the skidding, abrupt change in tone and storylines is really jarring. They actually hired BLM people to write the friggen' scripts? Is that true?
Does it get better after Season 3? Please tell me it does.
Can we SKIP Season 3 without messing up future seasons?

TMatsMy wife and I started off watching the show, but quit it after a couple seasons; I honestly don’t remember how long ago it was, but we don’t miss it—at all.

OrgussI don't know the answer to your last question as I stopped watching because of the same issues you're having; however, members have said that it gets better after this season. I'm currently restarting, will grit my teeth and grind through the woke bullshit in Season 3, and hopefully make it out on the other side.

cslingerYes it more or less tempers itself back. Still has some of those storylines but in a bit more realistic way.
My 15 year old has been watching the Rookie and has done so faster then I have so she was way ahead. After season 3 she came up to me and said “what the hell was all that!”

PASigOk thanks
We will power through season 3 I guess
Thinking back, I did see a little of this slip into Blue Bloods as well right around the BLM era, you saw NYPD Commissioner Frank Reagan saying things that made you go “HUH?” Things you’d never imagine him saying before and it became clear the writers were slipping in woke/DEI/BLM crap in there during that season.

egregoreThere was quite a bit of that business going on during the Covid period. I recall checking out
SWAT and seeing the first 10 minutes being nothing but exposition mixed with BLM-style propaganda, all while wearing masks so you couldn't see anything but their eyes. Other shows did the mask thing as well. It later became passable, like an early afternoon matinee discounted "popcorn flick" movie.

I got about 10 minutes into the first episode of season 11, where Whoopie Goldberg's character has a meeting with Commisioner Reagan. All the crap she was saying pissed me off so much that I immediately shut it off and haven't bothered with that show again.

jljonesI think the only police drama that didn’t slip during that timeframe was Bosch.

If I recall the episode correctly, the show depicted the character as a
Straw Feminist. Whoopi was nowhere near as obnoxious as Kathy Griffin in an episode of
Law & Order: SVU.
You may also recall the black militant "reverend" Darnell Potter, a
Malcolm Xerox.

Blackmore Firefly was Nathan Fillion's high water mark.
Castle was okay, but this show is cringe.

AllenInARI saw this thread and since I liked Fillion, decided to start watching it. I'm on the tail end of season 2 and I'm braced for 3.
I tell ya what, those rookies are having quite the 1st year.

It's funny seeing actors from SWAT in different roles. Hondo's buddy must've gotten his act together! Head of IA is impressive!

There is an episode at some point where a couple dudes Rob a bank each with either an Uzi or an M11 or some such. Any way I got bored and rewound and timed all the automatic fire and matched it up to the ROF of the guns and those two dues must have each had like 26 mags in their prison purse.

My wife is like “does everybody have an automatic weapon in LA?!”
