I remeber that movie when I was a kid. It taught me a valuable lesson on ranging and adjusting your sights.

Also, those calvary charge scenes make me feel bad for the hordes of war.

The movie is “The Lighthorsemen” (1987).

The 4th Light Horse Brigade weren’t cavalry unit but mounted infantry. The Aussies thought outside the box on the attack, as the Turks waited for them to dismount in order to attack before firing.

By the time the Turks realized what was happening, the Turks couldn’t adjust the sights on their rifles nor depress the angle of their cannons which resulted in firing over the heads of the Aussies.

Gives an accurate meaning to being “under the guns”.

"The Wind and the Lion" has a great cavalry charge at the end of the film, also.
Actually, it's a fantastic film altogether!
(I might add, some of Connery's and Keith's script lines are truely prophetic.)
