Movie: Project Hail Mary
Watched last night on Prime. I swear, the end scene looked just the ending to The Martian (classroom)
I enjoyed the audio book to the Martian. Maybe R.C. Bray also did Hail Mary? I'll have to look.

Mario Puzo's The Godfather novel was a huge success, on the NYT best sellers list for a couple of years, an extremely popular book at the time. And many readers were later disappointed with the film adaptation feeling it did not exactly conform to the book or felt it missed many of the inner details, etc. So to me, Project Hail Mary is really no different.

Spoiler alert.

I guess I’ll remain odd man out since I think reading the book first helped me to enjoy the movie without getting hung up on things. Like why did the containers fail? Why do the stainless containers not fail? What happened to rocky when he tried to save grace? How did he recover when he looked dead?

6guns: fair point. But to me, at least for this movie, it was smoother for me to read first. Compared to my wife who asked many questions during and after the movie which was distracting and detracting.

I’m not saying that reading first is the best way. Only that it’s my preference for my personality.

I think authors and movies are being mixed. The Martian here is written by Andy Weir who also wrote Project Hail Mary.

ETA: sorry, I missed that the reference was not to author but to narrator.

Looks like Ray Porter narrated Project Hail Mary. R.C. Bray's version for The Martian is no longer available. It's a great listen.
