I just finished a very clever and amusing series on Amazon Prime called: Upload. It's a dystopian tale of life, love, and (kinda) death in 2033, where people have the choice of actually dying or having their essence digitized and transferred to a hard drive to "live on."

Like most of those portrayed, the protagonist is extremely narcissistic, materialistic, and wants his satisfaction now. When Nathan Brown's self-driving car goes rogue and slams into a parked truck, he chooses to be uploaded by the massive corporation "Horizon" and his consciousness is transferred to "Lakeside" for either eternity or whenever his cash reserves run out. The place is like a huge luxury hotel in the woods (virtual of course), that provides you plenty to see and do, sumptuous food, great service (if you don't mind the fact that most of the servers look like the same guy), and the ability to communicate with the real world using either email or a smart phone. Horizon even provides you with direct access to on-line (just call out the name) help in the form of an employee called "Angel", should technical or other issues arise. You can also meet and get to know other people that have been downloaded and they range from one of the two most wealthy people in the world ("David Choak", one of a pair of rich brothers. Wink, a frustrated nine year old boy that's tired and frustrated that his age remains the same even after eleven years being uploaded, while his friends have all grown up and are enjoying lives as 19 year olds. There's also a double amputee veteran that recovered his legs and health after being uploaded.

If you think you're bombarded with commercials now, wait until you see life/death in 2033. If you think "hookups" are easy now and real love is difficult to find, wait until you see what the future holds. This is a very well written and produced series that has very good acting and throws some humorous, surprising, and clever plot twists to the viewer. While mostly a comedy, there moments that give pause. There's love story(s) and women will probably like this too. If you don't have anything else on your list and want to see something new, check out "Upload."
