I figured this would be your response. I’m not royalty, rich, or anything else, just a working stiff. Modest home, etc. If I can do it anyone can. Some people blow their monthly budget going out to eat, boos, etc. Some of us eschew such things, and do life a different way. Plus it doesn’t cost what it used to. So I’m not hearing your bullshit Royalty references. It was a regular type car payment, not a full size truck, for 2 whole years on 0%. And given I used to go on reg, to cineplexes, and what I used to spend, not that big of a deal. You made a blanket statement and it’s not accurate or true. You’re also wrong about scale. If your MLP and seat to screen distance is correct, like I said, I am missing nothing. The “BIG ASS SCREEN” is about like BIG ASS FRIES. Neat, but not necessary. Everything in life is a trade off so you lose some, at the same time you gain something else to offset. What’s happening in reality is you’re crying, not me. I was discussing something and letting you know blanket statements aren’t accurate. You can quote figures, or anything else you want, still won’t make it true. Now you’re mentioning landlords and apartments I guess you should open up a thread on here and let every homeowner know how fortunate they are, how they are “royalty”. I’ve had a full time job since I was 10 years old so learning I’m royalty, I sure as shit would like to know where the funds are, because I’ve never seen them. More stereotypes and bs You should have put a Grey Poupon reference in there too and you’d have been straight killing it, like 2 old goats at the fair. You are just on that hype train, and YOU saw it at X, and it’s the bestest thing ever and we should all do it exactly like you. All I did was give an alternative and nothing I said was worthy of your response. You are in that hype. Oh and I have a Nakamichi in my living room. It’s pretty good for what it is, and that like everything else I used some 0% BB credit to get it. Nolan is Nolan. He is one of the best directors living. People know this, so his films will continue to be well attended, and profitable. It’s the 180 film choice from our current state of affairs of Superho, woke Disney, etc. No surprises here. You are just all gassed up. What am I doing? I'm talking to an empty telephone

You misunderstood me. The stuff that happened after Trinity is the interesting stuff. I don't want to see a procedural about the making of the bomb, though it could be a decent movie (a la The Imitation Game, or even Dunkirk.) But Nolan put a lot of that procedural stuff in this film... too much, imo. I'm gonna vote for the funniest frog with the loudest croak on the highest log.

I swear I had something for this |
I figure this would be your response because it's always your response. Nobody can post anything in this forum without you behind a blow hard about your "perfect" home theater. At least bac1093 can actually post something interesting when he finds a rare gun that no one here can afford. NOBODY GIVES A FUCK ABOUT YOUR HOME THEATER. You remind people every fucking time about it and 90% of every post. No one gives a flying fuck about that or your love affair with Jared Leto yet you shove it into nearly every post in this forum. Some of us are fucking tired of it. We know you'll never step foot into another theater again. In other news, water is wet and the sky is blue. At this point, every time you bring it up when no one asks you for your home theater opinion gives me the right to call you a self-righteous twatwaffle, and on that I'll be more than happy to continue. You might as well be in the cult of climate change for as much as you like telling others how to live their lives.
You got me on that. I did think it was the other way around. In this case, I found the procedural just as interesting because of the magnitude of the Trinity program. If this was just another bomb or some other project, I'd be with you, but this was a 9/11 scale event of life before vs life after.

Nope, that’s you my man. It must be seen in theaters cuz you say so. Joker will teach you everything, even how to pee! I can’t remember the last time that actor was even brought up here so more sensationalism. You just self dialed in on particular posts and I guess memorized them because they obviously hurt you in some way. I responded to your post of requirements by the deity, refuted it, and that’s about it. Nearly every post, lmao. Stereotypes and sensationalism, you sure have those IMAX dialed in. No worries about the name calling, Lt. Dan.
Boy is that the pot calling the kettle black. I’m sure glad we IMAX’d that out. What am I doing? I'm talking to an empty telephone

Peace through superior firepower |
OK, guys, time to ease up. I only scanned through this exchange, but I will say that despite my feeling for there to be a real need for the modern American multiplex to die (since it's a primary outlet for the hyper-woke utter PC garbage product), "cinema" refers to a shared movie experience. You don't have the cinema experience in a home theater, unless you routinely invite people into your home who you have never met and will never see again, and I'll leave it at that, despite having more to say on the subject. Now, that's the end of it between you two.

Before it dies, can they put 2001 Space Odyssey and Lawrence of Arabia back on the big screen one last time so I can enjoy it? Please! Pretty Please! ______________________________________________________________________ "When its time to shoot, shoot. The sad thing is there was a limited run on 70mm of 2001 back in December that we missed. What really sucks is unlike IMAX 70mm where's there is only 19 theaters in the US, I've still got a 70mm screen near me. At least there's still a 70mm print of 2001 running around. Can't help you on Lawrence of Arabia.
I'm done. | |||

I had to disable the sub on this one. It’s overkill the way it was mixed.

And as usual, Universal completely underestimated demand for this film. Damn near every 4K Blu Ray is sold out. I'm stuck with hoping Walmart still has a copy ready for me at drive thru. Amazon is showing that the 4K is shipping in 1-2 months while Best Buy at Target just show unavailable.

The Teller interview I read was the August '79 Playboy magazine. Very informative. There was also a television interview with him on PBS right about the same time that was good. It was a William F Buckley Firing Line interview from around 1970. I didn't even really know he existed before these came out. Link to Playboy interview

Why don’t you fix your little problem and light this candle |
I watched it on 4k. It was amazing. My kids actually asked me to stop it to explain the history of a few things. We had a great time. This business will get out of control. It will get out of control and we'll be lucky to live through it. -Rear Admiral (Lower Half) Joshua Painter Played by Senator Fred Thompson

Definitely a reference 4k disc. One of the best I’ve seen in terms of picture quality. And it’s not even in Dolby Vision. 4k HDR10, taken from a 8k scan of the 65mm negative. Colors and scenes are extremely vivid. Skin tones are lifelike. Inky blacks. Amazing picture. Same for sound quality. Nolan only uses 5.1 but wow. It’s lossless and phenomenal. Definitely the best 5.1 soundtrack I’ve heard on disc. LFE was just incredible. The film is excellent and Nolan, in my opinion, is treading into Kubrick like turf. Not Stanley, but he is entering that realm and definitely best director in the business. He is writing his own ticket at this point and can do whatever he wants going forward. Been that way, but this film was the coffin nail. Kubrick was a genre killer and the more Nolan moves around to different topics, the more he reminds me of him. And thanks to Nolan. Watching an interview he stressed the importance of physical media for his films. He went the extra mile to insure the transfer was right. I was blown away. Will definitely watch in the future. Wanted to get it in and get my rental back so someone else can enjoy. So many actors that were on point. Emily Blunt, Matt Damon, Downey Jr., and Benny Safdie really caught me off guard. Has to be the highly of Murphy’s career as well. Don’t know who else could have pulled that off. What am I doing? I'm talking to an empty telephone

On Prime now, and probably the best uncompressed film I’ve seen on streaming. It’s not as good as 4k disc, but damn it’s good which is a rare thing on films via streaming due compression. If you have Prime, watch it again and turn it up. What am I doing? I'm talking to an empty telephone

I caught about 90% of it on a LAX >IAH flight last week. Had to skip a few scenes due to seat neighbors & didn't get to see the end Will have to watch again The Enemy's gate is down.
