The Day the Earth Stood Still & 6 fingers of bourbon
Indulged in a great movie last night and a couple of glasses of Four Roses Single Batch. And not that piece of woke shit with Keanu Reeves from 2003. I'm talking bout the original 1951 classic starring Michael Rennie. Been years since I watched it. Still one of the best SF movies of all time.

Day the Earth Stood Still was good, but I think the best was "The Thing" with James Arness.

It WAS a great movie but it was quite woke in its own way back then.

The context was the Cold War and nuclear weapons.

I was going to point this out. The whole, get along or we reduce the earth to a smoldering cinder thing.
Forbidden Planet and The Day the Earth Stood Still are always some of my favorite sci/fi movies. The Thing also freaks me out to this day Smile
To be honest, my absolute favorite does have to be Forbidden Planet. As a kid I wanted so desperately to travel to the planet to explore the 'machine' it was so freaking cool. Man I love that movie.
Also, in a tie or close second you have to go way back to Metropolis.

I had to do a college paper on the movie. I got an A+!

The flying saucer craze of the 1950's made for a lot of good movies.

Its a very good movie but I think Forbidden Planet is much better. I too liked The Thing and also "Them" if we are talking 1950s scifi.

One of my favorite SciFi movies of all times.
