What? starring Samuel L. Jackson and I couldn't find a thread on it?
Went to see it yesterday. I've not been a fan at all of Samuel L. Jackson, I'm just neutral about him. Maybe he was just playing the same character in this movie as in his other films but I thought he really shined in this movie.
The movie itself is very entertaining. It's an action movie that is a comedy based on the personal quirks of the main characters.
Great storytelling and character development. I'm not a fan of profanity as I think expletives are the mental crutches of illiterate motherfuckers but, in this movie, they made sense.

I liked it immensely. Ryan Reynolds has great comedic talent

Personally I'll watch this for Ryan Reynolds. He's got great range as an actor. I'd be surprised if Sam got first billing over Ryan Reynolds.

Ryan Reynolds does have first billing but I don't know or recognize him.
I recognized Selma Hayak which made me think I have seen her in a lot of movies but I haven't seen her as a lead who carried a blockbuster film. Too bad for her. She was pretty good in this movie also. At least, she showed her yoga prowess in this movie, I suppose as a way to add some quirkiness to her character in the movie.

Selma had a few movies where she was given the lead but it just doesn't work. She's not the ideal for female power roles. Shes too sexy for that so the roles she gets end up being a supporting character for a couple or power duo. She's just to damn sexy and needs other characters to show her off.
Ryan has been in a ton of movies. Teen comedies like "Van Wilder", which is one of my favorite comedies, to drama's like "Definitely Maybe" and more frequently lately action movies like "safe house" where he stole the show from danzel washington.
I mention safe house, because if you haven't seen it, its worth a watch.

Did like the look of his from the previews but will probably end up seeing it via Netflix.
We don't go to a lot of movies but my wife and I saw this one over the weekend. Thought it was very well done but as in all these films with prolonged gunfights and car wrecks in the middle of a city, I always wonder what the front page of the local paper looks like the next day. Who has to collect the bodies, notify next of kin, etc.

Deadpool was comic genius. And Ryan Reynolds played it to a T. Deadpool was one of those movies that my friends were excited about when it came out. I guess I was an Ironman/Captain America square and Deadpool seemed really far out of the Marvel box. And I watched Deadpool for the first time on HBO, and now own it on DVD. I laugh out loud every time the fight scene is on in the SUV, and Deadpool pulls out the crayon drawing and asks the henchmen "Have you seen this man?".
