That was filmed at Edelman's on Long Island. I used to stop in there pretty regularly with my dad when I was a kid. One night we went in and the store looked really different. Lots of odd displays, all sorts of T-shirt ("Kill a commie for mommy" and similar things of the time). The place looked much more "extreme" than it ever had, we were confused. Next trip in, the store was back to normal.
It wasn't till a few years later when the movie hit HBO that we put it all together.
