That rug really tied the room together. |
I bought the Larue trigger for $99 when it was on sale. That trigger blows away my much more expensive Geissele triggers, in my opinion. My favorite defensive use trigger is the BCM PNT trigger ($60). The ALG ACT trigger is basically identical ($70). These are GI style triggers with polished nickle boron or nickle Teflon surfaces, for a very smooth trigger pull. My favorite trigger that I have used to date in this platform is the Wilson Combat trigger. Not cheap. ______________________________________________________ Often times a very small man can cast a very large shadow

I have that trigger in my Sig716. I think you'll like it.

I have the ALG ACT in my go-to defensive carbine. It's better than milspec, but for precision shooting, it's not even comparable to any of the more expensive triggers. It's great in my application, where you don't want a really light trigger. There are many good choices these days, but the best match trigger for the price is Rock River. I have a Timney in one of my ARs that cost twice as much as a Rock River, but is not nearly as crisp (which is a bit surprising, because I have a Timney in a Rem 700 that is outstanding). I'm sure O.P. will be very happy with his new Geiselle. There is a reason why they are so popular.

Geiselle makes different models for different applications; they are not all that light.

Have you tried the LaRue MBT? ********************** 53 Jesus said to them, “Very truly I tell you, unless you eat the flesh of the Son of Man and drink his blood, you have no life in you. Yeah, I'd say it's comparable to a RR NM, but the LaRue is more money. Don't go by the Rock River price on their web site; you can get them quite a bit cheaper elsewhere (about 80 bucks for the non-chromed version).

A few members here with far more experience than I, pointed out a decent mil-spec single stage, from Palmetto State of all places, while nearly identical to the ALG trigger, but much cheaper. Watch their sales or sign up for emails, they normally go on sale once or twice a month for $29. It's their called their EPT. I have a few of them and they are much better than what you find in a standard LPK. I also have an MBT which I acquired via the Black Friday sales. I've got it installed in a new rifle I put together, just haven't had a chance to get it out yet. From my dry-firing, it's a pretty nice trigger though. I'm looking forward to the Geisselle single stage they introduced at SHOT this year, but it's gonna be more than $150. _____________________________________________ Welcome to Idaho, now take a wolf and go home!

So it's maybe the second best trigger you can buy?

The LaRue MBT trigger has no spare parts availability on LaRue's website. I asked LaRue if I could acquire a set of trigger springs and pins as a spare parts kit to go along with the MBT. The reply was that they don't offer a spare parts kit for sale, but if anything breaks, they'd send out a replacement component for repair. This is too bad! My philosophy is to acquire a spare parts kit (or two) for almost everything I buy, especially if it's a proprietary item. Geissele offers spare parts kits and I buy a couple kits to go with every trigger. Despite the far more attractive price, LaRue's lack of offering spare parts stops me from buying from them. Too damn bad! If in 10, 20, or 30 years, if a trigger spring breaks, I want a spare to be on hand. I am not counting/betting that LaRue (or any other company) will be around to mail me out a replacement. Join and Support the NRA

If in 10 years my trigger breaks and I can't get a spare part for it I'll replace the factory stock trigger and buy whatever is available. I shoot the factory stock triggers very well anyway. Just not as good as I shot the LaRue. I'd rather have a LaRue in my rifle than a pile of spare part in my bin. ********************** 53 Jesus said to them, “Very truly I tell you, unless you eat the flesh of the Son of Man and drink his blood, you have no life in you. Good choice with the Geissele. I haven't tried the B-G2S-E, but the functionally identical SSA-E is an outstanding trigger. Shockingly light and smooth compared to even the best GI. I prefer the slightly heaver SSA for my "go to" carbine. Their description of the SSA breaking like a carrot and the SSA-E breaking like a candy cane is spot on.
Been real impressed with reviews for the MBT, but I prefer not to do business with Mark Larue when there are so many other good options. You're definitely correct that Larue and Geissele are fighting it out, hard. The two of them have had some, uh, prickly exchanges on ARF. I suspect Geissele's expansion into optic mounts is connected to Larue's moves in the trigger market, but maybe it's just coincidental. _________________________ Their system of ethics, which regards treachery and violence as virtues rather than vices, has produced a code of honour so strange and inconsistent, that it is incomprehensible to a logical mind. -Winston Churchill, writing of the Pashtun
