I've been looking for a semi auto 30.06 since retiring my Remington 742. Decided I want a Browning BAR. I like the older wood and metal, but also like the mk3's with their synthetic stocks. I stopped in a local gun shop and they have an mk3 in the consignment rack for $750 which is way below what I see them for elsewhere. I know there's different grades and revisions of the original BAR and the prices range from the high hundreds up. So my question is do the mk3's have different versions or is this just possibly a great price if there's nothing wrong with it.

I have lived the greatest adventure |
Watching this thread with interest. They also have the new ones with wood stocks. I ran into a guy shooting sporting clays with one of their newer semi-auto shotguns with wood furniture, and man, that was a beautiful shotgun. Phone's ringing, Dude.

Sounds like a steal. I bought a BAR off GB years ago and it was damaged in shipping. Stock broke near receiver. Found out most replacement stocks were gen 2 and wouldn’t fit my gen 1 rifle. Custom stock prices were crazy. I have been eyeing the DBM tactical set up in 308 for my next deer gun. Prices are well over a grand. NRA Life Member

There are different models and grades. I bought a Mk 1 over 40 years ago. They are excellent rifles and very accurate. As to your question, there are two different stalker models. One with the standard magazine and one with a detachable box magazine. The latter costs about $400 more. https://www.browning.com/produ...arms/rifles/bar.html __________________________
