Just because something is legal to do doesn't mean it is the smart thing to do.

Any good web sites to see a big selection of uppers available?
Caliber wise that is.

Almost too many to list.

A short synopsis of widely available options:

Target/plinking/varmint

204 Ruger
223 Remington
5.45x39

Larger hunting type rounds
7.62x39
6.8 SPC
300 Blackout (supersonic ammo)
277 Wolverine

Longer range shooting:
224 Valkyrie
6.5 Grendel (also suitable for medium game)

Big bore hunting:

450 Bushmaster
458 Socom
50 Beowulf

Niche use, suppressed with subsonic ammo:

9mm (requires some work to the lower or a dedicated lower)

300 Blackout (subsonic ammo)

This is a brief list. There are hundreds of custom options.

I second RHINOWSO's link to the AERO upper as a solid option for .223/300 BO...this makes for an easy to build upper with many advantages (the full float hand-guard attachment forged into the upper for a one piece mount plus not having to mess with gas tube alignment...plus the proprietary barrel nut and wrench comes with the upper)...the necessity of having to use the AERO hand-guard was not an issue with me as they have really good hand-guards especially for the price point...some judicious interweb shopping can usually find them at a better price...
